It is a bright light. It has 4 power settings and the lowest setting for my purposes works the best. And it is tiny. You can carry it in your pocket and forget it is there. The price is right and you get a lot for it.

With the popularity of on-camera flash photography these days, there is a large amount of these small flashes available on the market. I've tried a few because I really enjoy using them when out with friends in the dark, and this one is a winner. This flash offers something no other flash in the category offers (that I'm aware of) in that this flash has a fill light that can stay on permanently along side with a traditional flash. The bottom LED fill light can be used to shoot video or it can still be used as a camera flash if you don't want to stun or startle the subject. I find a flash in a bar isn't always welcome but a less-sudden fill light for a few seconds will be tolerated. The flash function has four intensity options, which a nice feature that isn't always available on a flash of this size. The flash fits the hot shoes of my Fujifilm X-pro3 and my Sony A7R4a perfectly. The flash slides on and fires every time without having to adjust any settings. It couldn't be any easier for someone new to using a flash. The only issue I have with this flash is the form factor means the flash sits rather tall on the camera. This isn't avoidable with the two light options, but it is something to consider if your everyday carry camera takes a beating. Overall, I love this little thing and can't wait to take more pictures with it.

The idea to have both, flash and continuous light in one little package persuaded me to the purchase. How often do I find myself in a situation when I needed a flash for backlit situations and regretted my laziness to bring additional gear. This one fits in your pocket and can be used on my Sony and Nikon systems. I think the reason why it is cross compatible is because it only gets triggered and dispenses an amount of light whose intensity can be changed but it is not synchronized with the shutter. As a result, the images are always overexposed unless the lowest light dispersion is used. With other words the contacts that establish the communication for correct exposure are missing since they are different for each camera maker. If this handy little combo would have the contacts for the individual camera makers then this is a fantastic little device.

It's hard to over emphasize how tiny this "flash/continous light source" is. It's easily pocketable and fits covertly into even an average-sized hand. It's also very simple to use. There are two buttons on the back: On/Off and "Mode"--which allow you to shuttle between "continuous" mode (designed for video use) and four levels of flash strength. But, because it's so tiny and sits so close to the camera body, you can only use it more effectively with a very wide angle (i.e. short lens). A pancake lens would be ideal. Otherwise, your photos will be marred by the giant shadows covering half of the frame that I experienced when shooting with a 16-35mm lens. (The flash sits so close to the camera, the lens blocks the throw of the flash.)Adjusting exposure is also a bit of a crap shoot. There are four flash settings: 1/1, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8. You need to take test shots to try to get the right amount of light. So it's hard to be extremely spontaneous, unless you know your environment and how much light it will take from this flash. The ideal use for this tiny flash, it would seem, would be as a fill light in a daylight/outdoor setting (like what is demonstrated in the video on this product page). This flash outdoors could fill in some of the shadows you get under normal outdoor lighting conditions, improving and flattening out your images a bit. Also, if you were doing some video and the light in your space was just too dim, this light could save the day. Keep in mind, light blasting straight back from the middle of the camera is not generally the most flattering. But again, the tiny size of this flash (and it's affordable price) means you may be more likely to carry it with you...and that's a big selling point. (I was originally going to give it three stars because it's so "basic", but I thought that number was being a little harsh, considering how the affordability and low profile of this flash are what makes it shine. So if you value portability and just want to throw a little more light on your scenes (and aren't concerned about making your scene more "cinematic," I think this is worth a try. (Just keep in mind the caveats I listed above.)

Amazing how they packed so much in such a small package. Ideal for people photos in close range to add extra kick to lighting.
