This one has much better HW than the other brands and cost much less. It works flawlessly so far. I know it's a newer venture for UGreen so I don't mind their software has less packages (as of now). But it does everything I want it to... And works nice with my 10g network... Blazing fast and adding the ssd's make a huge difference...

I purchased this instead of Synology because it offered two 10gb Ethernet ports and an i5 Intel CPU. Everything is fine except download speeds are slow! I have Cat8 cable, 10gb switch and got better speeds with my 2.5gb setup. I’m now getting 25mb download and was getting 60-70gb before. I hope an update fixes this. The App Store is sparse but I have faith in time it will grow.

This is primarily a hardware and Linux compatibility review. I only played with the bundled software for a few minutes. I am a long-time UNIX/Linux user, and I would probably be unsatisfied with NAS software from any vendor. My unit is a DXP6800, which supports 6 drives an a couple M.2 drives. I am currently running with four 18TB WD Red drives, and a 1 TB Sata SSD.I purchased DXP6800 after seeing the Youtube review by Electronics Wizardry. Following the instructions in the video, installation was easy. I am very grateful to Ugreen for sponsoring the video to help out users who want to run their own software. Without seeing it, I would have hesitated to purchase the device. Here is what I did to install Ubuntu 24.04 on the box.* I turned off the watchdog in the BIOS first thing. Until I did this, the box would reset after 120 seconds.* I was careful to make a copy of the original SSD image before reformatting the included SSD.* I installed a 32 GB Micron SIMM to bring the memory up to 40 GB.* I loaded Ubuntu 24.04 desktop from a flash drive. The BIOS does not support UEFI, so I used a DOS boot.* I raun the RAM test bundled with Ubuntu. It ran a full pass w/o errors.I am very pleased with the result. Ubuntu runs perfectly with the bundled device drivers. It's just install and go.The build quality is excellent. The enclosed manual is excellent. It is necessary to take the case off only to install PCIe cards.Running Prime 95, the CPU ran no hotter than 85°C with factory settings, as reported by the lm-sensors package. Exceptional. After fooling with the BIOS fan settings for a couple hours, I learned how to set them so the disk temps at idle in my 73°F room never exceeded 40°C, even when the disks were near max effort. See the photo for the settings I used. Temps reported by the smartmontools package. My drives all transfer data full speed simultaneously. So the internal SATA transfer rate exceeds 550 + 4*250 = 1550 MB/s. With 6 Sata SSDs it could be double that number.I didn't test the M.2 capability. The box accepted data full speed at 10G with no errors. However no single thread could transmit faster than 5Gb/s. Two threads could total 9 Gb/s. Connected to 2.5G ethernet, bidirectional transmission runs full speed. The single display appears to be HDMI 1.4. With that limitation, it works perfectly. I just used the display to install Ubuntu, and test Desktop operation. With my configuration, the box uses 50W, rising to 80W with full disk load. This is way too hot to put in a closed cabinet, unless you want to exercise your disk warranty.Fan noise is minimal at my settings, however disk noise is louder than a cheap computer case. MY WD drives are the quietest in their class, but the disk noise is very noticable. Loose disk mounts transfer seek noise out the front. My 7200 RPM drives cause the case to hum at a steady 120Hz. I had hoped to put the box in a living space, but I finally installed it in a storage room.I would have given the box 5 stars, except for the drive noise. I suspect this is a characteristic of all NAS cases, and I would complain about anything but a noise dampened case with drives on cushioned mounts. I'm very fussy, and I like *everything* else about the box.I purchased my system not from Amazon, but from a local vendor who sold me on the box. He deserves the commission.
