My son is 8 but VERY lean - 45 lbs and a waist measuring 20". I ordered the 24 and it just fits snugly, we are keeping it. I could probably have gone up to a 26 and had it last longer. I agree with the review below that the speedos size smaller as I ordered one of those in same size and it was too small for him and will be returned.

The product description clearly gives product details for the TYR Durafast Elite fabric, and what I received was NOT DURAFAST ELITE. This is a nylon practice suit, not a racing suit and sells for $24.95 at swimoutlet.com.

My so uses this suit for swim team practice. It is true to size an has held up after several washes.

My 9 yr old swims at least 3 times each week for practice plus additionally for fun. These fit snuggly like they are supposed to with no slippage or binding. He never complains about them and says they are his favorite. Easy maintenance, easy clean, quick dry. So far no fading either. I will definitely purchase this brand when he either outgrows these or they wear out.

Compared to Speedo jammers, these run one size small. Size up. Ordered 24 for average 8 yr old son and it was tight through leg holes and waist. Material is thick.
