This mat is perfectly sized to fit a standard mah-jong table. The mat completely covers the table surface and does not overlap the table edge at all so you can still pull tiles toward the edge to make rows of tiles. The underside of the mat is a grippy neoprene so the mat does not slide around at all while you play. The play side is coated so you will have no problem shuffling your tiles on the table.This mat helps keep the noise of a rousing mah-jong game at a more subdued level. Your tiles will still clack when you shuffle them but it is a lot more quiet when you slap a tile down onto the table. The thick neoprene probably also helps to protect your tiles from chipping when players slap them aggressively on to the table.The pattern on the mat is clear and the colors are sharp. It definitely looks nicer than a bare tabletop. The mat also includes a nice carry bag so you can roll it up and store it when not in use.
