I bought this to make some custom heavy-weight guide rods. It arrived well protected; tightly wrapped in brown paper, encased in foam sheeting, then stuffed inside a rigid cardboard tube. The 0.50" rod had a measured diameter of .5020". I chose a 90% tungsten alloy since higher percentage alloys tend to be brittle. Turning on a lathe required extremely sharp carbide inserts with positive rake, but once I got the speeds dialed in, my guide rods turned out better than most aftermarket ones. Pic of raw tungsten alloy rod next to finished guide rod.
