How to use tub drain wrench

Select correct end of tool for the tub drain
The small end of the wrench is used for 1 3/8" and 1 1/2" bath tub drains

Insert the tool into the drain

- Insert screwdriver into the tool or use an adjustable wrench to turn
- Turn counterclockwise to remove the drain
- Turn clockwise to tighten the drain

**** Update: Seller refunded the charge. Not asked for, but appreciated. And the tool DID work with the mods shown below. Moved them up to 4 stars.Worked well but only after some modifications. The wrench wanted to pop off this old fixture rather than turn the drain piece, until I took a file and made the cross-hatch on the tool sit deeper and a bit wider. See photos. If you have a more modern fixture it may not need this mod.1st photo: before. Second photo: after.

Works great for the newer drains. Old drains it wont fit, too wide.

This fit my tub drain well enough to let me unscrew it and retrieve a tiny porcelain ducky that fell in.

Ordered this to replace one drain that had rust and damage. Not a contractor using this every day. For my use, it was great. Heavy duty but it is aluminum so not super heavy. I really had to crank on it to get the old drain out and it held up perfectly. For the price, worth the order to have in the garage if needed

I just got this in when I had to replace the tub drain in my guest bathroom. After getting the old one out and prepping the new one, i used this tool. It worked exceptional. The two sides both were a fit for my new drain seat. One thing that was beneficial was that you can use many tools on hand to turn this. I ended up using a screwdriver through one of the holes on the main shaft to turn the tool. I could have used a wrench but since I did not have one at arms reach I went with the screwdriver approach. It still worked like a dream. If you are a homeowner, make sure you have one of these on hand.

Worked like a charm to get my old drain out that wasn’t working well. Just stuck a sturdy screw driver through the hole for leverage and came out easy peasy.

I've used this tool to replce a bathtub drain and it makes the job much easier! I just bought another one for a second property to add to the toolbox.

I bought this tool to remove the drain in my tub as water had gotten under my tub liner. My grandson was able to remove the drain in less than a minute and once he did that all the water under the liner drained out! After everything dried he was able to recaulk the whole tub and since then I haven't had any problems. Instead of having to pay a plumber it cost me only $20 for this tool and the caulking.

I had to drill and deepen the center hole on the small side to fit properly on my tub drain. If you aren't handy or don't have access to a drill you may have a challenge with this. This might not be an issue depending on the style of your drains.
