We mount these to the trailer tongue not at all out of the way or protected from the elements and the sun, road debris and weather do not bother them at all. I've never had a problem with the documents being even remotely damaged and i think the shaded/tinted cover must prevent them from fading as well

I know these are usually used on semi trailers, but I put this on my little 5X8 utility trailer, because we never know what vehicle will be pulling it. Instead of drilling holes in the tongue, I just used zip ties to secure it. So far, it’s worked well, and I now know where my registration is at all times.
