Todo bien, todo excelente. Conecta de un lado y conecta del otro. Es un cable, o sea... había pocas maneras de echarlo a perder.

Just what the doctor ordered as a workaround to Apple's frustrating merry-go-round on connectivity to older HD's. Neither Staples nor The Source even new what this was. Thanks!!

This too was purchased specifically for recording purposes. This cable is a must have for those using firewire based sound cards. Most firewire based sound cards utilize the slower Firewire 400 connection. Using this cable, we were able to simple connect the firewire 400 end to our soundcards; then connect to the firewire 800 port on our MacPro; and we immediately had access to twice the bandwith, which we needed to capture more simultaneous live audio channels. Latency which was already low was less, and a slight hum which was only noticeable during capture (not in playback) totally dissappeared! We had previously maxed out our bandwidth at 24 channels using the previous firewire 400. Recording had to be stopped and started once or twice before we could give an okay to begin as the limited bandwidth could cause a bottleneck that would caused audio to be out of sync if not given the consistent attention required at the beginning of the recording. With these new cables, we now have a very consistent 32 channel setup, with no hickups, no hums. The glass ceiling has been broken. We hope to upgrade to a 48 channel live audio setup in the near future, in which case we would need another 4 of these!

I bought this cord to connect a new 1TB WD external drive to my old Mac G5 tower--I needed to go from Firewire 800 (the WD drive) to 400 (the Mac). (The drive, of course, operates at the slower speed but when if I want to use it on a computer with Firewire 800, all I have to do is upgrade the cord.) This cord works perfectly and I'm glad it's 6' long because it gives me enough room to move it away from my work area a bit and clear up some desk space. I now have five external drives going on my desk and it's getting a little bit nuts with cords, so having one that's this long really is quite helpful.I know nothing of the technical quality of cords, but this works, it's like half the price (or less) than other brands and I can think of other things I'd rather spend the money on than cords.

Not sure...could be a number of issues. Downloaded the firmware update for my WD my book. It worked at first, then Win 7 no longer recognized it. Changed the driver to "legacy" according to Win 7 folks and worked again for a bit, then dropped off. The cable quality appeared good. The ends fit and clicked into place. I believe that the problem is firewire 800 to esata/1394a. For the price, it was worth the try. The transfer rates weren't all that great or so much better than USB. Ultimately, I'd have to buy a firewire 800 card, then use the cable, but that's not worth it on my budget.

This cable arrived when it was supposed to. It was worth the wait. I had already tried a small plastic adapter for my external iSight camera, on my new (2012) MacMini. The small adapter let the iSight show up in Firewire on my Mac, but nothing worked. Facetime crashed when I launched it. Then this came in the mail. Glad I ordered it on Amazon at the same time as my smaller adapter. This cable goes straight from the camera to the MacMini. When it worked I was delighted! Now I can use my original external iSight Camera with my new OS X 10.8.5 Mac mini.

FWIW, I'm posting this review about a year or so after I bought it. I figured people would want to know how reliable it is. Well..... its great. Its been in use constantly and is hot swapped between a hard drive and audio interface and it has worked fine. Not a single problem.

If you have a Mac or PC with a Firewire 800 connection, and a device with a Firewire 400 connection, buy this cable. It works just fine as advertised, and appears rugged, thick, and sturdy. However, another reviewer claims the connectors are too small, and that the cable sits loosely in his plugs. I have not had that experience with my iMac or my Maxtor external HDD. However, he has also pointed out that the stiffness of the cable combined with those loose-fitting connectors make it easy to tap the cable and for it to come unseated. This may be a concern for some, but I simply have my backup HDD sitting on my desk next to my iMac and connected with this cable, and I've never had a problem with a cable coming loose. It's my Time Machine HDD so it gets used all the time, and it's worked just fine.

I bought this cable to connect a Drobo FW800 to an iMac G5 FW400. It has been working fine, although the fit is a bit loose on the FW800 end. As long as I don't move the Drobo, it's fine, but it's essential that the Drobo be unmounted before pulling it out from its shelf. It will leave the FW cable behind every time, even though it has plenty of slack. Other than this minor annoyance, I'm very happy with the cable and I'd buy another, especially at this price.
