The Trident Compact Wrist Mounted Multilayer Scuba Slate with Pencil is ideal for divers who want to keep their kit streamlined.

This slate’s 2 x 4 inch (5.08 x 10.16cm) size is perfect for brief communications with dive buddies at depth, when you don’t need a larger slate for mapping or more extensive dive documentation. This small slate attaches to the wrist with a Velcro strap. Included pencil attaches with a stretchy leash and attaches to the slate through a loop of the leash. Slate is constructed in durable, impact resistant plastic.

I got this slate for a small space to log notes during dives. It’s a decent size and the pencil works fine on it. On the first dive I noticed that the slate does not stay put in my arm. It might be okay on my wrist, but that’s where my dive computer is. It kept skidding down. I think this is due to the one strap. Secondly, the pencil won’t say in the loop for it. It kept sliding out and was annoying. Finally, the pencil is cheap. After a couple hours in the water, the wood is starting to split and the graphite slides up and down. It makes writing very difficult. I would look for a different option and would not recommend.

Just right if you are looking for a small slate to keep a few basic notes on when diving. Handy. I use mine for turn around air re-calculations underwater.

Due to short term memory issues, we picked this up the first one to help us remember what we saw on each dive. We usually dive two dives in the morning and then fill in the log book over lunch. We couldn't remember what we saw on which dive by lunch. This works great! I made a little note of each thing on dive one. Flipped it over for dive two. At lunch I'd have to decipher my scratches, but it worked great! Now, after many years, the rubber tube for the pencil is getting old. The pencil (bring a pocket knife in the dive bag to sharpen by hand - ask an old person to show you how) needs to be replaced because it's starting to crack. I'm hoping this one will work just as well as the old one. Fingers crossed.
