The blade becomes dull after two uses, not as good as ordinary scissors

I bought a Philips Heart Start Defibrillator and a Kemp CPR Board for use in our home in case of emergency. Then, I realized that for the pads of the defibrillator to work, they have to be applied to bare skin.If someone has a cardiac event and falls to the ground, there’s a 99.9% probability that that person will be fully dressed. And if that person weighs anything like what most adults weigh, then it would be very hard for me — if not impossible — to remove that person’s clothing. That person’s clothing will have to be cut away. So along with the defibrillator and board, I need a pair of really good quality scissors, the kind that will cut through more than one layer of clothing, effortlessly. But that’s not these scissors. I can barely open these scissors with one hand. They’re too stiff. If I use both hands, then I can cut through cardboard, etc.; but in an emergency, that would almost require two people to deal with the fallen person’s attire — one to hold the clothing away from the skin (so as not to cut the unconscious person), the other to do the cutting. That’s far less than an ideal situation in an emergency. The scissors ARE sharp. I like that. I also like the strap cutter. But I’m not sure what the “ring” cutter is for, plus it’s in a very awkward location on the shears. Same for the “oxygen tank wrench,” which I could barely find on the body of the shears. And as for the “carbide glass breaker,” I’m gonna say that it’s entirely too small to break any quality car window. Also, the scissors are a bit confusing to open and close, though once you get the hang of it, it’s easy.I’m going to oil these scissors and see if I can improve on their functionality as Trauma Shears.

These shears are fairly basic, but they do the job. The fold up reasonably compactly, and open easily. Closing them requires pressing two buttons, one for each handle, and this isn't trivial with gloves or in the dark. My preferred holster cam accommodate them open or closed, so I don't have to set them down elsewhere once I've opened them and started working, and I can fold them later when it's convenient - it also reminds me to inspect and clean them (and the holster, etc). Not sure why it has a strap cutter - the scissors seem a more reliable option for cutting seatbelts and other straps, but the glass break tip might find use in the rare occasion it's needed. Usually, though, the fire department or police are more than happy to lend assistance when vehicle entry is complicated, so I don't see myself getting much use out of it, but I practice with it so if it does come up I'll remember that option.

I ordered these shears as I had been wanting to try a pair of these folding trauma shears for quite some time. This type of folding shear was made popular by a name brand company who calls their shears Raptor. These shears are a pretty faithful reproduction of the Raptor shears...the only differences I could find was the lack of a lock on the belt cutter/oxygen wrench and the name brand logo. The shears unfold easily and lock in place, and fit my medium/large hand well. They've cut the normal items I've thrown at it with ease (carboard, plastic, credit cards, etc.).In the past, I have been able to cut a copper coin in half with a non-folding pair of trauma shears that I've had for over 20 years, and they are still going strong...these types of shears are built tough and last. I chose not to try that with these just in case they weren't up to the task...didn't want to ruin a good pair of shears...but I suspect these would do just as well if I tried. Is there any reason to buy the more expensive name brand shears? Maybe, if you are going to use them in a cannot fail situation...but for the rest of us, that will use these shears as a day to day tool, these will do just fine. I would highly recommend them.

I've recently added these Trauma Shears to my first aid kit. They've become my favorite Trauma Shears because they are portable and multi-functional. These shears are not just your standard cutting tool - they come equipped with a strap cutter and glass breaker, making them incredibly versatile for emergency situations like car accidents or camping mishaps. The build quality is fantastic, with the stainless steel blades maintaining sharpness through multiple uses. The folding mechanism is a smart feature for portability and safety in your pockets. The shears handle various materials with ease, from clothing to seatbelts, without showing signs of wear.Bottom Line: These Trauma Shears are a must-have for anyone serious about outdoor safety or emergency preparedness. Their multi-functionality, along with a sturdy construction, makes them an excellent choice for quick, effective action in critical moments. If you're looking for reliable trauma shears with added emergency tools, these are definitely worth the investment. I highly recommend them!

We invested in creating first aid kits for the home, cars, luggage, and backpacks. Each are sized appropriately for the application. One item that is required in the home and in our cars’ kits are trauma shears. We started off with the cheapest ones we could find. Sure they work, but they were flimsy and single function. These, on the other hand, feel durable and add lots of utility in nearly the same footprint. Being foldable, it collapses to a compact form. When it is expanded, it includes a 5cm ruler, a belt cutter, ring cutter, a glass breaker, and more. This fits perfectly in our first aid kit in the car and the added safety functions make it well worth it.
