I installed it the following day after it arrived. Removal from transmission was easy. Removing the thermostat from the valve assy was somewhat easy. Inserting the Bypass Plug needed some persuasion ( bench vise). Test drove the vehicle (outside ambient temperature = 72 degree) ... transmission temperature barely reached 140 degrees. It used to run at between 190 degrees to 210 degrees depending on the ambient temperature.Never ever went past 210.FYI ... I have driven it 120K miles in 9yrs & 8 monthsThis "chingadera" should be called a BYPASS PLUG ... because that is what is does, replaces the thermostat assy and plugs the internal thru-port and allows the fluid to circulate to the trans cooler.

If you live somewhere that salts the roads, go ahead and buy a new valve, and use this part to replace it on the new one. You will not be able to remove the corrosion on the old one if you live where they actively destroy your vehicle. This fix will keep your trans fluid at a lower temperature, hopefully lengthening the life of your fluid from overheating and destroying your converter, in turn destroying your pump and clutches.

My transmission would run at 200° no matter what with no load, because of the thermostat that was in place, but once I switched out for this bypass, even with about 6500lbs on a trailer driver over 150 miles non stop it never peaked 175, with no trailer it runs about 125-150. It the winter months like now when it's below 20°F and no trailer, the fluid temp never goes above 100°FSide note: if you want to order this and install it in your driveway, I suggest you have a vice because this part is a press fit, you WILL NOT get it in unless you can press is somehow, also if you use a hammer you will distort it and it will never go in.

Took less than 30 minutes to install. Transmission temp used to hover around 185F. Highest temp I've seen since installation is 151F but usually stays around 145F. Can't recommend enough.

the item should have came in a box with protection, it came in a plastic bag , it is aluminum and could be easily damaged or defected and cause problems for a possible leak . otherwise it fit perfectly
