I mounted mine to the front wall inside my cargo trailer. I made sure to screw the mount into a metal wall stud because I was afraid of it not holding just mounted to the plywood alone. I also pre drilled mounting holes slightly smaller than the screws that were provided so the screws would grab the metal. I have had my spare tire mounted for about a month at the time I am writing this, and it seems to be as secure as the day I installed it.

The way my trailer wheel lug holes are, the washer that came with this sank into them and it made it impossible to tighten the wing nut appropriately. I spent $2 on a bit in the hardware aisle (I'm not really sure what its proper name is but it's a small steel cylinder) and that made things much better.
