Reviewing: Drkerr TPS151GT10-000 Engine Block Heater compatible with Diesel & Gas engines Generator Tractor Truck Boat, Replace TPS151GT8-000 TPS151GT12-000 590-893, 1500W 120V Option 100-120F Coolant Pre-Heater I got this to use in a Case 580C Backhoe Loader. Instead of installing this directly on the radiator, I installed it on the cab heater lines so the heat goes into the engine first, and then the radiator. It is made with a mounting flange and comes with 4 bolts, but no other mounting brackets. I ended up using a small piece of C-channel to mount it - only using 2 of the 4 mounting holes in the flange. When it's plugged in I can almost immediately hear the heater go to work (you can clearly hear the coolant simmering inside the heater), and you can feel the heat right away. I conducted a cold weather heat-up test when the weather was For the past week I have kept it plugged in 24-7 in order to thoroughly test how this will hold up with prolonged use. As long as the heater(s) have power, they do their job well. The down-side is that it has tripped the breaker on the power supply 3 or 4 times over the course of that week. So it's definitely pulling a lot of power, and until I figure out how to fix the problem, I can't be 100% certain that it will be warmed up and ready to go in the morning if it snows during the night (I use the Backhoe Loader to plow snow). That being said, it hasn't tripped the breaker in the last couple of days, so maybe the issue resolved itself. All told, I'd say ≈$80.00 for an inline coolant heater vs >$200 for the OEM block heater is a deal. I will update this review when/if I have more information to share as time goes on.

It works OK for me.I used this because my diesel was not factory equipped with a block heater. Some advice: you HAVE to mount these low on the vehicle arounf the frame. You should not mount it high up on the firewall. If this is mounted in a way that could cause it to hold air pockets it will not work correctly and probably burn out fast.It is best if this can be plumbed with the verticle outlet going into the engine block rather than the heater core. The horizontal cold water return can be coming from the heater core.It is totally normal for this to make hisssing/crakleing/poping noises. It is working fine and nothing to be alarmed about. The wiring inside is a bit amature lookingbut overall it works fie as a winter time engine coolant heater.I Hope My Review And Pictures Were Helpful To You !!

Heavy duty and built to do exactly what it's supposed to do. The generator will work great in our WA weather and hopefully will hold up with use.

Update 3: the thermal grease and a 75degree thermostat is all that was needed. Im not sure if the install of the first thermal switch was butchered, but the 75C one works as advertised. The 45 deg thermostat was a joke.---------------------------UPDATE: The problem is solved - the thermal switch is way too short for the cavity. I purchased a pack of [KSD301 Normally Closed NC 75 Degrees 250V 16] thermal switches and flipped the bracket. The bracket that holds it in place must be flipped and then it will shove the sensor to the bottom of the cavity making contact with the plastic. I also filled it with CPU thermal grease. It now works as expected. The KSD302 45 deg it came with did not fit right and I feel it was too cold. This was a gigantic hassle and an extra $12. It is however a well made product albeit poorly assembled.I cannot add any stars because the product does not work as shipped and doubt anyone else's does either if they have the same thermal switch installed.-------------- original review -------------------I have tested this thing on the bench 4 times increasing the distance from a bucket with fittings several times. The best I could do was use this device for about 5 minutes and warm up the water to luke warm before it boiled the water in the heater and thus going into thermal shut off.I will update this if I am able to get it to work with a final 5th test at 1 foot bellow the water line for the inlet and about 2" for the outlet from the bottom of the bucket.Draws 11.65 amps at 120v - 1400WThe good: it is close to the rated output at 1400W, but not the stated 1500WThe bad: This thing really requires an electric water pump for worry free operation. It should never boil the water in the cavity since it claims it has a temperature cut off of 120 degrees F.I will update as soon as test 5 is complete, but it is not looking good.

It hasn't been cold enough here to test this yet, but it seems to be well made. The entire thing can be disassembled for repair. The power cord and thermostat can be replaced if needed. It doesn't come with a mounting bracket, you will need to fabricate one if you are doing a new installation. The instructions are pretty good, but you should probably look up the Hotstart TPS instructions, they are much more thorough about the importance of heater placement and hose routing.
