these work very well for what i needed, it took about 5 minutes to put togther for a test and it worked right out of the box. some points to note though, the colors are random if you pick RGB, when the first sensor is activated any other that is activated at the same time will be the same color,and the proximity is about 1/8 of an inch and it cant sense through some materials.

El producto me parece estupendo, me parece que redujeron costos en materiales de fabricación en los conectores que son muy frágiles, una vez conectados el riesgo de romperse el conector es de un 80% de posibilidades, una vez conectados es mejor no intentar soltarlo por qué se romperá.

These light rings create a very cool touch sensitive effect. Light is on when in the presence of something the touch sensor detects, and fade off when touch is no longer sensed. The rings can be daisy-chained, so you only have to power one directly. All in all it's a great effect and a very cool kit.

It appears someone has changed the circuit board connectors at the factory!!! Ordered 40 modules, all arrived well packaged and rather speedily. Only problem is that 20 of the circuit boards have different connectors than the others (as can be seen in the photo), meaning none of the fly leads provided in any of the kits can be used on those particular modules. I'll now have to source & make connectors that fit....kind of defeats the object of an "all included" kit.

Aside from the very secure cable connectors, this is an amazing system. Not recommended for someone with zero electronics experience but it's not an advanced system to work with. I wish I could know the IC they use but it's unmarked so I can't imitate it without reverse engineering and I'm not interested enough right now to do so.You don't need to touch it, you just need to have your skin close by. I didn't measure it but I'd say it's between about 5mm max and 2mm comfortably.Will order more of these to upscale my project! I love it. Will post the project pics/vid here in the future when I finish it.
