Works well. I needed this because I had accidentally clipped my pup's quick. I knew I had been lucky for a long time with her dark nails and never clipping one...until I did.... I felt so horrible. She yelped and the 'nail' was bleeding. I used cornstarch to stop the bleeding..but it doesn't work well for 2 reasons. The first being when she walks it easily starts bleeding again, the second being cornstarch doesn't have any pain relief properties to it. This stuff does! So, now, fast forward to the future and here I am cutting my one kitty's nails...he yips and I didn't cut the quick...but I'm thinking I cut close to it and it's uncomfortably close. So, I put a small amount on the nail and voila...kitty is happy and calm. This jar will probably last you the entire life of the pet. You don't need much at all for each application. Price is reasonable for the product you get. There are a bunch of products like this WITHOUT the pain relief ingredients...you don't want those. Bail trimming isn't fun for pets...this helps remedy the boo boo's immediately. Yay!**I have worked with animals, and I don't cut the quicks often - but it seems like when I don't have this on hand is when I need it. When I wrote this review it was hard not to lecture myself clipping nails sounding like a careless chainsaw juggler.---->Honest mistakes happen, animals are wiggly. Get this stuff and be safe, not sorry.

Once in a while I nip my dogs nail a little to close and this powder stops the bleeding instantly. I think my Lu Lu appreciates that part and don't seem to suffer any pain from that little slip up.

I just had occasion to make use of this product for the first time (sorry Snoopy!). As careful as I try to be, every now and then I cut too close, or one of my dogs moves a paw and the bleeding starts. And you know that when you cut the quick, the bleeding goes on for a long time. This powder works fast! I dipped my dog's paw in the container, held it there for a couple of seconds and the bleeding was over. And she didn't spend time licking the wound as she always does so I'm hopeful that the Benzoczaine really works to dull any pain. I had previously tried the gel w/benzoczaine and it's terribly ineffective. This is the stuff you want.
