We were trimming our dogs nails and got to close to the quick. We dipped the nail in this powder and it worked immediately. Easy to use, and worked in one application.

Having a big litter of Rat Terrier puppies it’s very expensive to get puppy tails docked, and the vets won’t dock them like you want. I grew up helping my mom with her poodle puppies. But I can remember this one puppy that bled a lot, I wasn’t doing my pups tails docked without this stuff. And it worked beautifully. There was No bleeding at all. Now I’m happy to do them the way I like them. Didn’t need a stitch either. Which I was prepared to do if needed. I highly recommend using this for any kind of injury or sore your pet gets.!! Even bug stings or hot spots your dogs or cats gets scratching!!

Product arrived quickly, but was poorly packaged. No safety seal and the powder ended up coating everything else in the box. Works well but arrived causing a huge mess.

I used to groom dogs. Cutting their nails, especially black nails us trickle. There’s a vein called the “quick” in the nail if you cut too short, you will cause pain & bleeding. This product, when applied will help to stop bleeding.

Top Performance MediStyp Styptic Powder stops the bleeding caused by an injury or from cutting a pet's nails too short; but I do have a couple of issues with this product. The longer you let your dog's nails (for example) grow, the further down toward the tip of the nail the quick will extend. This means that you must start out by taking off little nips of the nails, letting the quick recede, nip off more a week later and so on. If you cut the nail too short, it will bleed and cause your pet pain.If this does occur, MediStyp has a dual function: to stop the bleeding AND the pain of cutting the nail's quick. It can also be used on docked tails and minor cuts and scratches.I would tell you to follow the instructions on the container; but the printing is so small that I had to use a magnifying glass to see them. It would have been helpful for the manufacturer to include a little pamphlet. You are better off reading the directions on this page.MediStyp will also help prevent infection. It is not meant for major injuries such as cuts or burns.Application is messy because it's a powder. If it were a cream or in the form of a styptic pencil, it would be a much cleaner operation. I suggest following the teeny instructions on the jar which state that you can put the dog/cat's nail into the jar to coat the nail fully. This makes much more sense and is less messy. You can also take a damp, clean cotton swab or cloth, dip it into the jar and then apply the solution to the pet's nail.INGREDIENTS: Benzocaine, Ferric Subsulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Aluminum Sulfate, Bentonite, Diatomaceous Earth, SulfurThis product works very well to stem the flow of blood; and with the Benzocaine added to the formula, it keeps your pet from being in pain from the nail wound.
