  • Magnet at bottom of solvent draws particles scrubbed from chain effectively keeping them from being redistributed on the chain during cleaning
  • Durable sponge material draws solvent from the chain as it exits the Cyclone reducing drips and mess
  • Works with all multi-speed bikes and some single speed models
  • Holds 2 fluid ounces of solvent
  • CM-5.2 features stronger locking clips and a more ergonomic handle

The new CM-5 chain cleaner uses an extra large solvent reservoir and a series of rotating brushes to scrub the chain's side plates and clean inside the chain's rollers. Uses a special two-step cleaning process that makes a difference you can see. Step one 'scrubs' the chain with solvent, while step two uses a larger volume of water and solvent (or detergent) to 'flush' grit away. A strong (grade 5) magnet draws particles from the chain to the bottom of the CM-5's fluid reservoir, effectively keeping the particles from being redistributed on the chain. A durable, open-cell sponge material draws fluid from the chain as it exits the CM-5, reducing the drips and mess so common with chain cleaners. To make the CM-5 Chain Cleaner easy to control and use, we've added a sturdy handle. The body of the CM-5 is made from durable nylon and the brushes and sponge material are replaceable. Works with all multi-speed bikes and some single-speed models. With these innovative features, the all new CM-5 delivers a new level of performance for on-the-bike chain cleaners.

I have a Catrike Dumont. The drive chain for this trike is about 3 times the length compared to a two wheel bike. Lots of chain to clean.Unlike a two wheel bike, you can't easily hold the Park Tool while cranking the pedals. So, I left the handle off, added cleaner to the chain cleaner and clipped it over the chain. I used a wire to attach the chain cleaner to the chain guard on the trike. This allowed me to crank the pedals and the wire held the chain cleaner in place as shown in the attached photo. With in minutes of slow cranking the chain looks like new.To finish up, the chain is rinsed and dried. I use Rock N Roll Gold Chain Lube. https://www.amazon.com/135816-Chain-Lubricant-4-Ounce-2-Pack/dp/B07LB1J969/ref=sr_1_5?crid=14QV6RFJLMMIP&dchild=1&keywords=rock+and+roll+chain+lube&qid=1583511077&s=sporting-goods&sprefix=rock+and+%2Csporting%2C190&sr=1-5

To be honest, I'm too lazy to take my bike chains off to clean them. I usually ride on one bike chain lube for nearly 100-miles before re-lubing, if the chains haven't gotten wet. But when the chains get so dirty, or if I've gotten into sand or dust that's gotten onto the chains and could grind them up, cleaning them with this tool is a breeze. I've had one of the old Park Tool chain scrubbers that I've used for years, but it finally got cracked where the old-style wire clip locked the top lid on, and I also broke the little plastic pin that held the magnet on the bottom, so time for a new one. I like the looks of the newer style clips better than the older design. I expect this to work better and last just as long as my older one.

After 3 months of using it a couple times per week, it is falling apart. The part that holds the magnet to the bottom broke. Both clips that hold the upper and bottom halves together fell off. It does do a great job cleaning (I use it with Purple Power degreaser or Simple Green) but I expected better durability/longevity from a Park Tool product. Submitted a warranty claim to Park Tool -- waiting to hear back.UPDATE: After only a couple days Park Tool got back to me, and is sending a replacement. Awesome. Changing review to 5 stars because Park Tool stands by their product, and maybe I was a little too rough with it. Here is what Park Tool said:"Thank you for using our products and your inquiry/image.Great to see you are using your chains scrubber to its full potential!Sorry the housing has cracked/fractured around the pin-latch/magnet of your chain scrubber. We will send a replacement CM-5.2 Chain Scrubber to you at the address below. Please save any internal components from yours and recycle the rest. The housing can be damaged during assembly or when the cleaner gets caught in a sprocket and the magnet is permanently attached…do not pry off to clean, simply remove the internal brushes and wipe clean.Turning the crank slow/more revolutions still cleans the chain and prevents the chain from ‘grabbing’ the scrubber/pulling it into the sprocket…which will break the housing around the clips over time. Please consider purchasing our CM-25 Professional Chain Scrubber with an aluminum body.RBS-5 replacement sponger/brush kit is available from your local bicycle shop/favorite online retailer."

Does the job very well, cleans super easily, easy to use and good value for money. We use it for the two bikes we have - city bikes, no fancy gear. We don't use the handle as I think you have much better control by just holding it. Must say it's a dirty job anyway, so use gloves but be ready to make a bit of mess around you. It has two sponges inside that are super easy to clean, and a magnet at the bottom that catches any metals - the magnet is on the outside, so you can easily take it off, rinse the container (metal will fall) and pop the metal piece back in. Totally recommend it!Cons: it will be a bit more difficult if you have a bike with pedal break - you have to turn the scrubber tool around and pedal forward!

Punti a favore:1. Punti a sfavore:1.

This thing works better than I would have imagined! I got it and tried it out tonight after not cleaning my chain in over 2 months and probably close to 400 miles of crud and gunk all over it (YES I KNOW MAJOR NEGLECT) I expected to have to do several cleanings for the chain to get back to clean... Well I loaded the cleaner with a strong solvent and spun the cranks about 100 revolutions. Then washed out the gunk from the Chain cleaner, filled it with water washed the chain again and BAM the chain was so clean it left almost not marks on the towel when I dried it off!!! I was blown away :)

Also das Park-Tool. Allzeit gute Fahrt.

Works very well. This is among the highest rated chain cleaners on Amazon as you've probably noticed. This type of device is the best automatic, fast way to clean your bicycle chain. I'm not too impressed with the hold-up of interior components inside it as they seem to be quite worn after just a few uses. The foam padding on the right side that helps to guide and polish your chain as you use the device seems to be peeling already. Not a major peel, but a peel nonetheless.I had read of some units that have plastic clamps that break. This one has metal clamps and Park Tool is a quality, trusted brand by all industry professionals in cycling. They don't always have the best product but they always have at least a very good one that's quality and this is no exception. It's cleaned my bike chain very well so far and hasn't leaked at all. The magnet in the unit intended to catch any metal shavings or other things as you clean the chain is a nice touch and works well, too. I use Simple Green which I buy by the gallon here on Amazon and mix it 1:1 with water to put into this device. Works like a champ!

This is the second chain scrubber I own from Part Tool (the first one I purchased about 15 years ago, so it was due for replacement!)... Makes it extremely easy and convenient to keep your chain clean, which is important for many reason, the main two being: 1) makes your spinning easier and more efficient; 2) increases the life of your components, specially your chainstay, because a dirty chain tends to grind on the teeth much more rapidly. The too itself is very easy to use: you clamp it on the chain, fill it up with solvent through a couple of filler holes, and then slowly start spinning the chain backwards. You may have to replace the fluid 2-3 times in order to get a real clean look, but that's hardly an issue. Also, you can buy a replacement set for the inner bushes and cleaning foam pad (the actual components that come into contact with the chain), which means that you can get many years of good service out of this tool.I highly recommend it!!
