These are easy to cut and cuts clean. Great addition to my drawls in my workshop. Love the ability to have a specific place for my tools

My dad taught me that when you’re frustrated and don’t know what to do next, you can always stop and clean up… organize your tools. Whether that’s your office desk or your workshop. I’m using this foam to do exactly that. And my toolbox has never looked better. The multiple layers let me cut deep or shallow, depending on the tool. Just set the tool in place and trace around it - a silver Sharpie works well for that - then cut your tracing with an Xacto or similar. It’s better to cut well inside the line since you can always cut more but you can’t cut less. The only problem I had was when peeling away the cut layers, sometimes the layers separated where I didn’t want them to. Turns out that wasn’t too big a deal, though… I just re-glued using contact cement.I really like the red middle layers - adds a dash of panache to an otherwise boring toolbox.

I prefer to use 2 color foam like this in my tool boxes because it allows me to easily see when I have a tool missing. In my career in aircraft maintenance, losing a tool can be detrimental so I carry that mentality forward to my tool care at home. I like the mentality of practice like you play so this allows the mentality for work to carry over in all aspects of my life in respect to tools and maintenance.

I knew going in that these were a bit small. They are easy to cut into and make the desired outlines for whatever tools you need. I do wish they were just a tiny bit bigger. My toolbox has about 2-3" more depth that these offer. so I took one of the panels and made that into a sacrificial lamb it to all fit snuggly in place. No complaints other than that.

The products was as I expected, except for one thing. I got the one-inch version with 4 layers. 1 black, 2 red, 1 black. The top black layer comes off great. But if you want to go down a second layer and pull just one red layer with the top black one, no can do. I had to cut deep enough to remove both red layers, slice them apart, then put one back in the foam. There was no way to separate the two red layers. A lot of extra work.

Usually, tool box foam is polyethylene which this is so, that’s a good start. The foam is firm, has a consistent texture and has a good density feel to it. When you look at this foam, one of the first things you will notice is that it consists of four layers. The black top and bottom layers and the two red middle layers. You can easily set the depth of your razor knife by setting the blade on the side of the foam and adjusting the length of the razor to the layers of foam you want to cut through. The foam is good quality and easy to cut. When I am cutting, I set my razor knife so that it cuts through whole layers. I don’t cut one and a half or two and a half layers. I will cut one, two or three layers. This makes removing the cut foam easier and gives you a better finish. At least, that is what works for me. This ONREVA brand seems very good to me and I am very satisfied with the results I am getting with this foam.
