About this item

  • Spring loaded, locking trap door
  • Sure-fire, adjustable trigger
  • 1 x 1 - 12 gauge wire mesh
  • Easy baiting and releasing
  • Made in the USA

Model 608.1 is designed for raccoons, feral cats, wood chucks, and similar size animals. It weighs 13 lbs and measures 32L x 10W x 12H. This trap is similar to the model 608 but stronger because it is constructed from 1" x 1" - 12 gauge mesh rather than 1" x 2" - 12 gauge mesh used by the 608. This trap also has an easy release rear door.

This cage is worth the money. Every part of the cage from the tripping mechanism to the cage itself is made with strong wire that won't bend or be damaged from trapped critters. Have trapped several racoons with this. The previous cage I was using was a different, cheaper brand and the racoons bent the trip plate and damaged the tripping mechanism. Not with this cage. Everything is still in great shape as the day I got it. Very easy to release or bait the trap with the release door. Spacing of the wire is narrow enough to help protect you from getting clawed. Good engineering.

It's very well built . First night I caught the coon . There was no damage to the trap . It was a large coon but the release door made it simple to let go. Cheaper traps I've had suffered damage or didn't go off. I should have spent the money and got this one from the start. I would buy it again

Morning after morning we were met to a closed Havahart trap with all the bait gone. Must’ve been two weeks. It was time to find a new trap. I found this Tomahawk trap and the reviews about the quality were superb and a lot of other customers sharing the same sentiments of Havahart failures. Our tomahawk trap came yesterday about 1 week earlier than the scheduled delivery and my wife and I were so anxious to set it.Woke up this morning to find the bugger trapped securely. We are thrilled with the purchase and cannot say enough good things. The trap door itself we knew was made to not be broken or bent and just felt extremely secure. The metal wiring is thicker than the havahart and is welded solid. Setting it is a breeze and the easy access door in the back for baiting/releasing is a huge plus as well.Thank you Tomahawk for a solid and trustworthy product!!!!! Worth every penny!

Very disappointed. I bought this cage especially for the easy release door and I recieved a normal cage with NO door at the back. Hope the company will read this and send a cage that fits the picture and the description !!

It's a good trap, with the exception of the rear release door. It doesn't move smoothly on its track and had to be wiggled and forced.

This trap is the bomb for armadillos; caught one the first night I got it. And have caught some since. It is sturdy, not much more $ than cheaper traps that don’t work for armadillos, and the back easy-release door makes it easy to use.Liked it so much, have since bought the second one. I really expect they will last forever.

This product failed to operate after numerous adjustments to the trap door closing system, Raccoons visited nightly over several nights and took the bait which was in the extreme end of the cage but the trap door failed to operate every time. I was disappointed to say the least and returned the cage for a refund only to receive 50% of the purchase price with a statement saying trap was operating correctly traces of bait and feces were found in the trap. I tried this trap nightly by adjusting the trap door spring up and down but the door did not slam shut when the animal entered and took the bait. Sorry but n0t a happy customer.

I was born in the 50s, and for better or worse, I've seen the US transition from a build-domestically-and-repair to a build-overseas-and-replace manufacturing culture. I buy some things made overseas and typically discard and replace them, as the repair price typically costs more than a replacement. But this old man does get great joy when using a tool built with great quality that's made to last. My Weber grill is one of them. This Tomahawk trap is another. I considered a couple of other traps, selling for anywhere from 40% to 70% of the cost of this trap. Reading some of the reviews of those traps, I saw negative reviews on difficulty of use or build quality. The Tomahawk reviews didn't seem to have nearly as many of these negative reviews, so I paid the extra and bought this trap. I'm not an easy person to impress, but am very impressed with this tool. Build quality and function are excellent, and it's a joy to use. This looks to be a tool that will certainly last my lifetime. And, BTW, we've successfully and humanely trapped/neutered/released 5 of the 8 feral cat in our barn and expect to have the problem 100% solved before the year is out.
