I haven't actually used this yet, just wanted to have it as a spare. I don't want to have to wait on a very busy HVAC tech to get to me on a 30 degree or 90 degree day if my systems capacitor goes out. And this is something I can replace. Hopefully, I won't need it anytime soon. I did test the capacitance, and the readings are well within the listed values. I have the same brand capacitor in my upstairs unit that I replaced a while ago, and so far it is functioning perfectly, so even though I haven't used this spare, I gave it 5 stars. Only buy this if you know how to replace it. These can be dangerous if miss handled.

Fingers crossed that this will last many years. If I could know that it would last for many years, I would give 5 stars. So far it works as intended. It’s a very easy fix, and WAY cheaper than paying for an HVAC visit.

The contractor charged me $181 for this item a couple years ago. I like this one better now that I'm not too ill anymore to do small jobs for myself. Buy with confidence and no regrets.

AC guy said ours is dying or dead (AC still worked fine) but said he would be charging me almost $300 to replace it. Told me to pick on up and install it cause it would be a lot cheaper. turn power and breaker OFF, Easy replacement take pictures of wires and pins. Online tutorials as well.

My air conditioner motor wouldn't start up this past summer. I noticed the Capacitor on the side of the motor was bulging. This means the old Capacitor was dead. After READING the side of my old Capacitor to get the proper VALUES and CONNECTIONS.. I ordered this as a replacement. Installation took one screw and and hooking up the wires was easy.1) Turn off your Circuit Breaker or pull the Fuse to your Air Conditioner.2) Make a NOTE of the wires and which ones connect to which terminals on the OLD Capacitor.3) Unscrew the old Capacitor and pull OFF the wires.4) Remount the NEW Capacitor and reinstall the wires EXACTLY as they were attached to the old one.5) Turn ON your Circuit Breaker or Replace the Fuse and turn on your air conditioner.EASY! Just make sure your BRAND of Air Conditioner COMPRESSOR MOTOR takes this SIZE and TYPE of Capacitor.

So the fan started slowing down and getting really hot and in the same day stopped with humming sound. The old capacitor is bulging. It is very not where I am in right now and we called a few places and nobody replied. So I got this one and arrived after 2 days. Was very miserable for 2 days. Home got to 29 degrees even at night. Received this and put in right away. Knowing the diameter is 0.5 inch bigger I had to modify the mount a bit. Old one is 40/5,370v this one is bigger and higher voltage.which is a great thing. Probably should get one more for emergencies. Fan started working right away and it's faster than when we first moved in 2 months ago. Previous owner sure sold at the right time. Anyways this one is the fastest to arrive out of most other capacitors are from USA which takes time to arrive. Doesn't seem to be able to get this locally on small city. Fingers crossed this one will last.

4 stars for now unless the unit dies before the end of the year. This unit is fatter and shorter than the one it is replacing but no big deal cause it's got the same operating specs. I had to improvise the mount using a hose clamp which added 2 minutes to the 15 minute install. Other than the dimensions all is well and heat pump is up and running and I've got cold air in the house again.

Living in South Florida means you have to run your AC on and off almost year-round. This, of course, translates in to regular upkeep such as switching out your air filter monthly as well as other common problems you may face throughout the year. Issue: the fan blows out warm air but the fan is running fine. Firstly, shut the AC off and look inside the unit to see that all the ice has melted before proceeding. The issue is a common one: the capacitor. We had a "friend" who worked a side business as a licensed AC repairman who works for large company. If we called him on an emergency, he would stop by after his shift and change the part out for 100 bucks a pop. We were happy to pay it as we were more worried about getting ripped off by another AC guy that would tell us we needed a new condenser or worse, a whole new unit, so to us we were happy to pay the 100 bucks. After watching him do the capacitor change several times as this had been the repeated issue, I decided to see if Amazon had the part. Sure enough they did and it was delivered to our door within two days for under 10 bucks! The issue happened again only two weeks back and we had the part on standby. We were able to quickly change it out and just like that the issue was resolved! There are plenty of YouTube videos that show you how easy it is to change this part so I suggest you trying to see if that is in fact the issue befor calling an AC repair man for an over-inflated price to resolve an an otherwise easy repair.Buy 2 or more at a time to have in an emergency.

I have a very large home (7300sf) with dual phase Carrier AC system for the first and lower level, and a second system (heat pump) for the 2nd floor and loft level. Last summer the upper level unit stopped working. Called an AC tech who took roughly two hours to figure out what was wrong. The outside unit stopped cutting on. Finally he replaced the capacitor and $350 later the AC was working again. Fast forward 8 months later. The same thing began to happen with the unit for the first and lower level. I was standing out front and could hear a whining sound coming from the side of the house. I went to investigate. The fan on the compressor appeared as if it was stuck. I pulled the breaker and stuck a rod through the top grill to push the blade to see if the fan motor had seized up. I was able to move it and pushed it until it made a single revolution. I put the breaker back in and the unit kicked on with the fan running. 2 months later I noticed that the first floor of house was warm although the AC was running. I checked the temp of the air coming out of the register and found it to be warm. I checked the unit outside and sure enough not only was the fan not spinning, the was not running at all. Immediately I'm thinking the entire compressor is gone, which I had already thought would eventually happen but simply monitored it listening for the whining and humming sound I heard before.I contacted an AC tech that I used in the past since I knew he'd give me a far price, but for some reason the guy couldn't make it that day. But then he never came when he said he would nor did he return any of our calls. We had a friend reach out to someone who knew a guy, who knew a guy yada, yada... At this point the outside temperature was getting milder due to the amount and frequency of rain here on the east coast so there was no rush to spend upwards of $3000 to have the unit replaced. I just so happened to google the symptoms trying to determine if the entire unit needed to be replaced or if there was a way to replace the fan/motor assembly for less than the cost of a replacement compressor. Low and behold the very first YouTube video I came across, there's a guys describing the exact same set of symptoms, first the fan didn't turn on, he pushed it like I did and it ran for about another month, then the entire unit stopped working. He replaced the capacitor while videoing the repair and within ten minutes he had the unit running. Needless to say, I did the exact same thing and had my system running in 5. The biggest issue was finding the right one and then deciding which brand to trust. I called Carrier to try to find the OEM part number without having to open the unit up until I was ready to fix it. They refused to give it to me due to liability (such BS, my warranty is over), they obviously did not want to take business away from their dealers. I was able to get the part number from a distributor and also found out that Carrier doesn't make their own parts anyway and typically uses multiple Chinese made brands. I chose this one due to it's popularity among HVAC companies. Works like a charm.. I bought two so I'd have a spare at the ready in the event the same thing happens again.. 4 screws and less than 10 minutes of work and I saved myself $300+ on this repair. I won't know the reliability of the part until the unit is running until the temperature changes. but for now, the problem has been resolved with a $6 part ($8 with Prime Delivery). As for the guy who came to fix it the last time this happened, he obviously did not know what he was doing. Screwed up my Smart Thermostat and ended installing the old Honeywell unit thinking it was the stat that was causing the unit not to kick on. I guy I will be doing my own HVAC repairs from now on unless the unit need to be replaced or it's too hot to go into the attack (but then I'd just at night when it's cooler).
