While I have not been able to use yet. It seems that the quality of bot the roller and grain tool seems to be very well made. I will try this on a test pc of cardboard and see what happens. I will follow up after I did the job

I anxiously awaited the arrival of this tool for two whole days while I diligently prepared my first few layers of paint. After listening for the mail truck all morning and afternoon, my delivery finally arrived! Excited to give it a try, I hurried to and from the mailbox and got straight to work. While the instructions said to apply the paint first, I found it easier to lightly roll the tool in a thin layer of paint. It was like using the roller as a stamp. I definitely found the roller to work more easily for this project, as my painted faux wood planks were also 7” wide. (I have yet to really use the smaller tool.) Overall, I was impressed with the results!

La herramienta azul es más versátil, puedes jugar con el movimiento variando las formas, escogiendo los tonos adecuados puede parecer real. El rodillo en cambio no, se ve muy artificial.

I only recommend the roller because the small blue one was completely uncooperative. I followed the directions exactly and it still did not do what it was supposed to do. I'm doing to try other mediums with it but, right now, the roller was the only successful part of this purchase. Now, the roller is not perfect. You have to take your time, line everything up perfectly every time, and it's hell to do a second layer (if required).

After having peel-and-stick wallpaper fall down, I opted to paint shiplap onto our wall with this set and 3 colors of paint (a coffee base, medium grey and dark chocolate brown). The roller was especially useful to create a realistic wood grain pattern. We did a base coat of coffee, then roughly brushed a light and uneven coat of either the grey or brown over that (alternating to create different shades of plank), and then rolled on the other accent color (brown over grey or visa versa). You do have to bring some artistic skill to the mix, as you can’t just blindly apply the roller. Using it exclusively quickly creates a repeating pattern that looks quite fake. But if you alter your paint coverage, use the roller randomly to avoid a repeating pattern, and fill in with some hand paint and some texturing with a damp sponge, it’s not that difficult to get a pretty real wood look. The roller does gunk up after a while, especially if you actually roll it in the paint. I found brushing paint onto the roller was more effective. I also washed it once or twice during the project. It cleaned up super easily just with water and a light brush.I did not figure out how to use the smaller hand tool very successfully, but it did come in handy in some small spots where I couldn’t fit the big roller.Overall very happy with this product and the result!

I really like this little tool. It was easy to use, and I'm sure as I keep using it and making new things it'll get even better and easier. The picture I posted in this review is my first try with the tool, and I'm not very crafty so it's definitely super easy. I did several layers to make sure I liked the color and then gave it the wooden look with the large roller. It took just a few seconds and came out great on the first try! I'm excited to make more projects with it!
