About this item

  • Predict Tides: The Tide Clock allows you to easily track the high and low tides in your area. It accurately predicts tides, paving the way for you to easily understand tidal movements, thus simplifying the necessary Seafaring calculations.
  • Quiet: The pointer sweeps quietly without making annoying sounds.Precise quartz sweep movement guarantees accurate time and absolutely silent environment, suitable for bedroom, kitchen, meeting room, and any other places which need a silent environment.
  • A Unique Gift: With high quality materials and excellent design, this tide clock is the perfect gift for Marines, retired Navy officers, surfers, fishermen, beachcombers, boaters, people with coastal homes, and anyone who loves the ocean.
  • High Quality: Each tide clock is made of high quality with solid construction and polished luster. The design is simple and stylish, and will be an excellent choice whether you put it on a boat or at home for decoration.
  • Multi-purpose: Tide clock shell edge with reserved mounting holes, can be installed on board; Tide clock back with hanging holes, can also be hung on the wall, is an excellent decorative wall clock. It can also be placed on the desktop as a decorative pendulum for living room, office, etc.

The tides operate on moon time, where each tidal day has 24 hours and 50 1/2 minutes, so high tide and low tides do not occur at the same hour each day. The hand of the tide timer easily shows how many hours until the next high or low tide in your area. Tide clocks are recommended for use on both coasts of the United States and Canada. In the Atlantic, they never need to be adjusted. In the Pacific Ocean, including Hawaii, they need to be calibrated periodically. Tide clocks do not operate in the Gulf of Mexico.

The 10" Nautical Tide Clock (ASIN B0DL44ZXXJ) from Valuegist is essentially a standard plastic wall clock with 6 hour intervals labeled low vs high tide. Setup is easy; simply check your local area to determine when tide is at its highest (or lowest) and set the clock to match. Great conversation piece, but doesn't really provide any more useful information than a cell phone or your local weather station. Also, it does require one AA Battery which is not included.Given the current asking price (as of this review) of $39.xx, it's not exactly cheap, especially considering when one could create their own by picking up a standard dollarstore clock and printing off a new face for it - Instant tide clock and about $30 cheaper. The main benefit of this (over a cheap clock) is that its operation is relatively silent.

This tide clock performs exactly as expected, accurately tracking the tides. After several weeks of use, it hasn't gained or lost any time. Because it's so accurate, I highly recommend this tide clock for anyone who enjoys fishing or sightseeing. Living in Alaska, we find it invaluable; we often head to the beach at low tide for beachcombing and at high tide to watch seals and other wildlife. Setting it up is simple: just check your local tide charts (available online or elsewhere) to determine the current high or low tide and then set the clock hand accordingly. For example, if low tide is at 3 PM, you would align the clock hand with the low tide marker.
Hopefully useful

This tide clock is attractive and nicely under-stated.Nothing flashy about it, simple clean black and white lines so it will fit in with many decors.I have had it up for a month or so now and it still tracks the tide cycle for my point of interest perfectly - it's keeoing good "time" and within a minute or two over that month.Important thing to note:This is made for places in the world that have "semi-diurnal" tides, which means 2 high tides and 2 low tides per day. Each high tide is therefore separated by roughly 12 hours and 25 minutes. If you live in a place with these kind of tides it will work great, like the Atlantic coast. If you are tracking tides in the Gulf of Mexico, there is only 1 high tide each day (diurnal tide) so this clock will not be correct.Overall very happy with it, but it isn't a bargain for what it is. Kind of a niche product though!

This is a handy device for tracking the tides! After reading up on analog tide clocks, I made sure to set this on a full moon day for maximum accuracy. We live in the Coastal Carolinas and this clock stays pretty accurate with most tides being no more than about a half hour off at most. Most of the time the Atlantic tides are right on schedule within a few minutes. It does make a slight ticking noise which is noticeable when everything else is quiet around the house. Really love having this by the door so I can glance at it before heading out to the shore!

Once you set the clock to match your local tide times, it does a good job keeping track of high/low tide. I personally do not like the font used for the numbers, the number 1 looks a little bit like a 7, but other than that the clock functions as intended!

This clock comes with NO directions, so using it was confusing, and I initially thought it didn't work. This is a 5 star unit if you can figure out how to use it.With some research into tides I have learned there are 3 main Tide patterns, and IT IS IMPORTANT TO LOOK UP THE TIDE PATTERN IN YOUR AREA BEFORE YOU USE THIS CLOCK.Tides cycle every 24 hours AND 50 minutes. This corresponds to the moon rising and setting in any given location. (One definition of lunar day.) It's not a 24-hour cycling, so the numbers on the clock do NOT correspond exactly to hours. It's more like 62.1 minutes! This means it is really hard to set it until you are at the time of exact HIGH or LOW tide. I did not know this and set it at what I thought was 2 hours before high tide --and it did not work, of course. The 3 tide patterns are: DIURNAL --high tide once a cycle, low tide once a cycle (Gulf of Mexico)SEMI-DIURNAL --2 high and low tides a cycle of equal height (East coast of US)MIXED SEMI-DIURNAL--2 high and 2 low tides, with different heights for the high and low tides (West coast of the US)If you are on the East Coast, setting the clock is the easiest, because it the tide chart is the simplest, like a sine wave repeating endlessly. If you are on the west coast, the clock will correspond to high and low tides, but it won't tell you which is the highest of the 2 high tides nor which is the lowest of the 2 low tides. You will still need to look at a tide chart. In my area of the West coast, some of the time we have a semi diurnal pattern, but sometimes it is diurnal! At times it is accurate only once a day.If you are on the Gulf of Mexico, where there is only 1 high and 1 low tide a day there will be 2 extra tide readings that are totally incorrect.I wish this were in a manual --it would have made it so much simpler to use!

I ordered this because I often go for a walk along the coast and wonder if the tide is coming in or out. I could always look it up on my phone, but this is more fun. There weren't any instructions, but you wouldn't need instructions to set a regular clock - it's easy to figure out. Just add a AA battery and look up the current tides to know where to set it. I verified it several hours later to see that it coincided with my local tides. The design is very simple; I like the plainness. The housing is made of plastic, with polycarbonate on the face. It looks good on the wall.

Out of the package:10” Tide Clock (Quartz movement) (powered by one AA Battery – not included) (Brand: Valuegist) (Model Number: 10INTIDECLOCK).Price at time of this review: $39.99.This tide clock (made from plastic) feels to be durable. It is completely silent.I live on the East coast of Canada and am just a couple of minutes away from tidal water. My fishing buddy and I love to fish for mackerel when they are running. We like to fish about 1-hour before high tide to 1-hour past when the tide starts going out.It was easy to set:1. I checked the tide chart (online) for our area on Thursday 9-January-2025; it showed the low tide (of 4.7 ft.) would be at 12:09 AST (Atlantic Standard Time).2. I turned the adjuster on the back of the tide clock to put the dial on the LOW TIDE mark. At 12:09 I put an AA battery in the clock to start it. It was now 'calibrated' with my wall clock.3. The chart showed the high tide (of 8.4 ft) would be at 18:13 (which is 6:13pm). At that time, I took a photo of my wall clock and the tide clock together, and sure enough the tide clock dial was on the HIGH TIDE mark.My 12” wall clock has a similar design and colors as this 10” tide clock. They go well together hanging on my kitchen wall. Now, when I want a few mackerel, I just have to glance at this tide clock and I’ll know when to grab my fishing rod and head over to the wharf.I give 5-Stars to this Valuegist 10” Tide Clock.Note: The Product description at the seller’s page states:‘Tide clocks are recommended for use on both coasts of the United States and Canada. In the Atlantic, they never need to be adjusted. In the Pacific Ocean, including Hawaii, they need to be calibrated periodically. Tide clocks do not operate in the Gulf of Mexico.’That means I will not have to adjust mine. Time (no pun intended) will tell.I will update this review if I have any problems with this product.

This Tide Clock did not come with any instructions on how to set it up or calibrate it.The listings says “predict the tides.” You cannot because it does not come with instructions. The listing says this is a “way for you to easily understand tidal movements.” You cannot because it does not come with instructions. This listing says this clock will be a way of “simplifying the necessary Seafaring calculations.” It does not because it does not come with instructions. The device came out of the box in good physical shape. It made entirely of plastic. It is 10 inches wide and the black plastic bezel is 1 cm wide and 1 ½ inches deep. It has a white face with large, black numbers that are easy to read.It was easy to put the one AA battery into the clock. Once the battery is in, the clock runs smoothly. The clock makes an audible ticking noise that is noticeable from nearby. This clock might make a good decoration or maybe a conversation piece in your home.

The vendor describes the clock as "high quality, solid construction, polished luster", but not sure I would describe the materials as high quality or that it is solidly constructed. The black surround does have a nice polished luster, and the plexiglass is clear and unblemished. I found the rear of the clock to be a bit "wonky". The area of the clock adjustment and battery compartment seemed loose and moved around when I installed the battery. I had to use some force to seat the battery, and I was worried I was going to break it.I wish there were instructions included. Just looking at the clock face it is pretty evident how it works and how it should be set, but it would have been nice to have some information supplied with the clock especially regarding need for calibration on different coasts. Google to the rescue.I do like the minimalist design. The black frame with white face is very attractive in its simplicity, and I like the easy to read style of the fonts. This tide clock will look nice hanging in a beach house, and I think it will be a talking point. It will be especially interesting and educational for kids. While there are many ways to check the tide, using apps or charts, there is something nice, in an old-fashioned way, about looking at a clock to check the tide.

I couldn't resist this Valuegist-brand unique nautical "tide clock", to be taken south on our family escape from the Canadian winter. With paddle & surf boards at the ready, it will be interesting to find out what - if any - practical use will come of this battery-operated device. One thing is certain; it will generate conversation between friends and family members and will set me, yet again, on another learning curve. If it proves to be more than just a curio piece, the owners of our escape destination will probably appreciate having it to welcome other guests. This 12 hr, 10" diameter x 1.5" deep 'Tide Clock' is designed to hang on a wall nail, but will probably work just as well on a flat surface. Made of flat black plastic with a clear acrylic clock face, the numbers predict hours to low and high tides over 12 hr cycles. The single sweep arm moves in a standard clockwise direction and is powered by a standard AA battery (not included).I cannot comment on the efficacy of this device, but at this price if all it does is trigger conversations and operational theories it's well worth the price; anything functional will be a bonus! As it is 100% plastic, I don't recommend hanging it outside, exposed to direct sunlight and the elements. I recommend finding a spot with a view of the ocean close by. Recommended for fun at 4 out of 5 for the time being, and if it proves to be useful in any way, make that a 5plus !
