Here in NW Arkansas that ticks are brutal. These tweezers are awesome to pulling the little buggers off. We had one set, but I bought this set to have in my car for after rides.

Looks like it will work great. I like that it dual-purpose for humans and pets.

I purchased this tool a few months ago as I have an indoor/outdoor cat who adventures almost all day during the summer time (we live in a very safe and quiet neighbourhood) and although I have always made an effort to check her regularly I realized after the vet discovered a tick deep in her ear that the tweezers at home I would have resorted to would not be the safest option if I had found it first and needed to remove it myself. A few days ago I just used this tool for the first time as I noticed immediately when my cat had a small tick right on her face under her eye and it worked perfectly! It is important to know the technique to slowly twisting it out even with a perfect tool as you do not want to risk the head detaching and staying in the skin. However if your cat or dog wriggles around to much in the process and the head does detach the long curve pointed tweezer side is perfect for getting rid of it so long as you can do it safely yourself without causing more irritation to the bite. I also love that it is solid metal so I can sterilize it in some boiling water after use!

Removed the tick with its head! I'll update again if I get to use the "pet" side that looks like a fork. Very happy with this purchase. Now I can get these nasties off so much easier and safer.

The tweezers are a 5/5 stars. They work great! The tick scoop is a 0/5 stars. Does not work.

I have purchased a number of these throughout the years and had to purchase another one of these for my daughters dorm room. We keep these in all the cars and of course in our house. Have had to use a good handful of times on our dog and it has always worked great. I have some of the other plastic tick remover tools but have never used them. I like the feel of this one, the length of it, and how sturdy it is so every time I have to remove a tick this is the one I go for - not quite sure why I haven't thrown the other ones out! Great quality tool and I highly recommend getting one for yourself and also get one for your have kids at college if they go anywhere there are ticks (which sadly seems to be everywhere these days).

This tool is amazing. Went bush with a group of people into an area reputedly crawling with ticks and this tool removed every tick intact every single time. The trick is to pinch the tick as low down, at which point it will do a starfish impersonation, then give a quarter twist as you pull it out.

SUPER GREAT PRODUCT. I bought two, one for home and one for work. I've used both. Really easy to use for someone who has never had to remove ticks before, especially on herself. I've been able to reach places I didn't think I'd be able to. Plus, its so much easier to grab hold than other tweezers I tried previously. I'm super grossed out by ticks and for anyone in that boat, who happens to live in tick areas... I would say grab two. And some alcohol. Some index cards, tape and a sharpie. This kit comes with instructions on how to mail in your tick to be tested. It's 50$ to do so, and I've already been bitten like 8 times so I'm definitely not going to pay to have that done every time, but I'm saving the ticks with the date on the index card (tape the tick to the card and note the date and the location on the body) so later if you get a rash or feel fluish you'll know which one to send in to be tested. Also good to have a pouch to put all that in.

I love to walk my Queensland Heeler and am fortunate to have undeveloped area close by to let him loose to run. But in Northern California, east of the Bay Area the summer weeds are full of ticks. The only insects I hate worst than ticks are mosquitos. So despite my caution about when to let my dog run and play in the open areas he occasionally gets a tick. I used to pull them out with a needle nose pliers. That isn't the best way. This steel tick remover is easily the best tick tool I have found. Better than the plastic ones I first tried. This tool makes quick work of pulling out a tick. You only have to use it once to know its value. It's a tweezer at one end and a kind of pry bar at the other and it is long so I don't feel like I'm so close to the tick (yuck). All I have had to use is the pry bar, but I like having a tweezer option too. I like this tool enough that if I were to lose it I would buy this one again instantly. I highly recommend this tool.

We recently moved out in the country on a lot surrounded by woods. I bought this hoping to never have to use it - but have already used it on 3-4 occasions in a short time :-/It works well for my dog, she has had a few ticks that appear near her ears. She kind of looks like a deer (red doberman) and seems to attract the deer ticks. By the way, you are supposed to use the non-sharp non-tweezer end on pets - I saw a review where someone "cut their dog" prior to ordering but that wouldn't have happened if they followed the directions on the package.Tonight after doing yard work all day I sat down to relax and felt a bug on my side and it wouldn't flick off - ewwww! - it was a darn tick! I was home alone and it was about 6 inches below my armpit and more towards my back than chest. I got the thing off - all of it - on just my second attempt since it was in a tough spot. I used the non sharp edge (not the tweezers) on myself too. Glad I had this thing handy and was able to get it off quickly. If you live in a wooded area or frequent areas where ticks are common - I'd definitely recommend this!
