I am very impressed with this cargo holder. It is very well made and holds a ton of gear. We drove in the rain and everything stayed dry. It is incredibly easy to install and remove. One minor complaint is that when packing your gear nothing can be touching the inside rails of the tray as it will impede the locking mechanism. Other than that this is a great carrier.

Great overall design. More expensive then other options, but worth the quality, usability, performance and looks. Really appreciate the way it adjusts and attaches to my SUV's cross bars. Really like the way it requires all 3 latches on either side to be perfectly aligned for locking and key retrieval. Both the attaching and locking mechanisms mean that I don't worry about carrier being secure. Really like the fact that it fully opens up, along the length of the car, for cargo on both sides (one side at a time) of the car -- helps with loading and unloading. After multiple road trips: Have not noticed any increase in air flow noise, and have only noticed a small drop in fuel efficiency. Bought 10 gallon (40 liter) duffle bags, the size carrier I bought perfectly accommodates 6 of these bags along with other items on top of the bags.

This worked out great for my 2000+ mile family road trip. I got the XXL because I wanted to store our City Mini® GT2 double stroller. The stroller takes up a ton of room in the back on my 2022 ford Explorer and I wanted to luggage easy to reach. I will say I am glad I got the XXL because it was still a tight fit and the little extra width probably made the difference for the stroller. I was able to fit the stroller, a bag with all the stroller wheels, the stroller accessories, a large container of diapers and wipes for a 2 week trip and a bunch of exercise equipment for my wife's marathon training in a carry on size suit case.Although it was a little heavy and unwieldy, I was able to get it on top of my Explorer solo. I wish there was an external handle or wider gap so I could grip and move it on my own better but I am sure Thule intends for this to be done with 2 people.As for the lock, sometimes the key just wont go in, and when closing the lid it can not seat properly preventing the lock from working. After some practice and realizing the lid was closed but not properly aligned I figured it out and didn't have much trouble.Over all this was a great buy, very little wind noise and felt secure while driving.

I purchased mine back in May and did not want to give a review til I had gone through most seasons with it on my roof. This rack has now made it across Canada in all seasons. It has seen the rain, sun, and snow. I had originally wanted to put my travelling stickers on the Thule but since this edition of it is like a carbon fiber look its bumpy and I am afraid that my stickers will not seal and then bubble off. So remains stickerless.The keyhole turning to open the rack is sometimes a bit finicky, but I knew that it could be an issues based on other reviews I read before purchasing. If I were to buy it again I would buy one size bigger. But this is perfect for the one side of my Dodge Journey and the other side has my kayak rack. Perfect for travelling. Placed a heavy duty plastic bag down before putting bags in Thule during travel because with the rack clamps under, it leaves slot holes for possible water to come in from rain, but i have not had this issue yet. Over all great buy

So when this came on a truck, I went outside to see if the delivery guy needed a hand. He said no, it was lite. He wasn't kidding. So you unbox this, pull it out and go oh boy. As a previous reviewer stated, it is very thin plastic as the top shell. Now I have a Thule carrier that's over 40 years old. If I dropped it off the top of my Chevy Traverse, nothing will happen. It's double wall construction like a hard cooler. This is more like one of those blue storage bins. Definitely try not to drop it. Not sure how the top will do.So it's real simple to get up on the car for it being so lite. The old one is a two man job struggling. Once on your rails, you open the clips with the dial and grab your roof rail like a claw. Super easy to use. It also slides a little so you don't need to adjust your roof rails (some may have too depending). I had my rails to fit my old one which was bigger than this, so no adjustment needed.Opening it is a bit tricky. The key doesn't go in as smooth as a normal key. Why, no idea. It has that big plastic knob which you turn to open it from either side. Opening is easy. Closing, just make sure you have it aligned correctly otherwise it won't close properly.We filled it for a softball tournament down in Virginia from New Jersey about 353 miles away. I had 3 folding camp chairs 2 stadium seats, a sportbrella, beach umbrella, little table, small suitcase, carry on, small duffle bag, air bed and some towels. Still had plenty of room. Went back in the house and realized there wasn't much left to put in the car. Anyway, I used the included straps and tied things down since another reviewer showed a pic of the top of this ripping off. Hopefully nothing would get blown around if that happened.We left and prayed. Firstly, you really don't hear this while driving which is a bonus. Once I used one of those bag types and it just flapped the entire trip. Drove me nuts. No noticeable noise here.As for gas mileage, a traverse gets about 22 miles per gallon on a highway. We averaged about 20.4 so not much drag. Mind you, this was almost full, trunk full, and 6 people in the car so you may get more if you were smart and didn't have four kids who are all teenagers now.Surprisingly, no issues with this at all. Held up great. It rained most of the way down, completely dry inside. I do like the fact it opens from both side so you just open your door and step up. You will have to close it, go to the other side and open it in order to load/unload.I was able to take it off by myself when we got back. Just need another person to put it wherever you want to store it.All in all, I was pleasantly surprised and relieved that it did so well. I am happy with this purchase. Amazon had the best price on it. I researched a bunch of these and decided on spending more on this than other brands hoping the quality was there. So far, it is.I have another tournament in South Carolina that this thing needs to come with. I'll update after that trip and let you know how it's holding up. Hope this helps.
