As a professional musician, I’ve been using the Thomastik-Infeld Rondo viola string set for the past four months, and I’m thoroughly impressed.Sound Quality:These strings deliver a rich, resonant tone that really brings out the character of my viola. The depth and warmth of the sound have added a new dimension to my playing, and they respond beautifully across the dynamic range.Durability:After four months of consistent use, these strings have held up remarkably well. They maintain their tone and playability, which makes them a dependable option for daily practice, rehearsals, and performances.Value:While they’re not inexpensive, I find the quality and longevity justify the cost. Want to start by saying I have a William Harris Lee 2015 Tertis Model, for reference. I've been a fan of Thomastik-Infeld strings for years (read: My PI strings that I just replaced on my viola lasted for 5 years, two of which were spent in a doctoral performance program, and the last three years in professional orchestras and freelance gigs. 10/10 strings. I didn't have as much of a budget this time around, so I opted for the Rondo strings. I want to reiterate that this is only commenting on how they performed on my viola. They started out pretty bright and loud, which is what I need for my instrument, but after they really broke in, I started feeling like I couldn't get a solid, percussive attack in my playing, specifically on the C and G strings, which is a problem on my instrument in general, so not necessarily the fault of the strings, but they didn't make up for that in the same way that the PI's did. These would be great strings on an instrument that is naturally brighter, but they weren't great on my viola.
