I have 3 of these. First used with SmartThings, then migrated to Hubitat. They seem to have good range and they are easy on batteries..

I bought this Feb. 2022 to use with my Hubitat. It's installed on the garage entry door to turn on the lights when we walk in. Response time is great and I've had 0 issues over the last 3 years. I use 2 rechargeable AAA batteries for mine, and has been running 3 years later on a single charge. I would definitely buy again!

I bought 12 of these to replace all of another brand (S*O*N*O*F*F) which uses 2032 button cells, they paired with any of the Hubitat models within about 10-15 seconds whether they were 1m or 10m away. The driver it picked up was the built in Generic Zigbee Contact Sensor (no temp)They all needed an upgrade from 0x30 to 0x3F which was easily done via Hubitat within about 10mins, about 60 secs per 10% block, the progress can only be seen in the live logs for the Hub.This gives you:Optimized the network joining and reconnecting algorithmsOptimized the power detection logicOptimized the trigger filtering algorithmFrom what I have experienced, the upgrade procedure is well protected and never bricked any of them, each 10% block is transferred and checksumed, at 100% the upgrade is transferred to its flash memory. The device still has live operation during the upgrade process.I made a mistake on the first one by unpairing/re-pairing while it was upgrading, simply because I did not realise anything was happening viewing the device page. When I found where I could see the progress, it had stopped at 30%, after 2 mins I realised the upgrade had been cancelled by my actions without any harm. The upgrade was just started again and completed without error. The great thing about these 3rdReality devices is that they use a modern hall effect sensor to trigger via the magnet instead of an antique reed switch, so they can be mounted offset slightly on windows and doors, the max detection range is about 25mm so best to stick with 15mm or less if the magnet is not on the same plane. As long as you dont have any poor/ chatty/ proprietary Zigbee protocol devices on the Hub and have good plug in repeater mains sockets between far off devices to create a good Zigbee mesh they operate automations in Rule Manager within a second , no matter how far away they are from the Hub.I am very impressed with this brand and have purchased 8 Temperature/Humidity lite sensors, again uses 2 x AAA supplied and also a couple of the waterproof soil moisture/temperature sensors to assist in the automated garden watering .

These just work awesome. I've got them connected to home assistant. And I have all kinds of automations triggered off of them. The best part is the battery life, I kid you not 3 years before they were reporting less than 30% and I changed them. The sensor is pretty forgiving if they do not light up perfectly.

I bought THIRDREALITY Zigbee Contact Sensor 4 Pack for for $41.99 on Noveber 21, 2024. This contact sensor is definitely one of the sensors I have, and it works well every single time. I love that it uses AAA batteries unlike other sensors I have, and I had no issues connecting it to Hubitat. One item to note is that these contact sensors are rather big. My other sensors are significantly smaller, but they also do not use AAA batteries. Given that my sensors are not easily visible where I placed them, their size is not an issue for me. But be aware that these are big / slightly bulky.I am very happy with this and would definitely buy them again.

Doesn’t work. Always incorrectly reports the door as “open.” AFAIK there is no way to troubleshoot it, so it will be returned. Completely non functional.

These THIRDREALITY Zigbee Contact Sensors work great so far. They trigger quickly, and setup with ZHA in Home Assistant was straightforward. The strong magnets were a nice touch—made it easy to install on doors and windows that have a bit of a wider gap. There’s a custom ZHA quirk available to tweak trigger times, which is useful, but honestly, it’d be better if this feature was built-in from the start. Overall, these sensors are a solid choice if you’re looking for something fast and easy to set up, with a few extra tweaks available if you want them.

I added this to my HomeSeer system using their free Zigbee Plus plugin. The sensor added easily without an issue. HomeSeer displays the contact value (whether the door is open or closed), the battery level, and the link quality. The link quality is handy as this lets you know if it has a good connection to the hub. I use this on my inside garage door. When I come home and open that door, I have an automation event that turns on the hallway lights. I only turn on the lights if I enter the home, not when I leave. I use a motion sensor in the hallway to detect that I am approaching the door from the inside. The automation will not turn on the lights if motion is detected. Pretty neat. I cannot comment on battery life yet, but it's been a few weeks and it still shows 100%. The sensor is activated multiple times a day. They include double sided tape to attach it to the door and the door jamb. Seems like its staying attached well.

I use home assistant myself, and it is very easy to add it to my zigbee network. I really like the fact that it used AAA batteries instead of those non-rechargeable button batteries. Although I will only hit 80% battery life by using rechargeable batteries, but it does not affect the functionality and stability of the device. The sensor also have quite a wide detection range. Even with thick uneven door frames, it still works fine as you can put the magnetic part further on the flat surface.

Updated review 11/14/22 and reinstated 5 star rating:Apparently, during the last week or so of October 2022, there was a software issue of some sort between this device (contact & motion sensors) and my Echo Show. I think it was a zigbee issue. A lot of users of zigbee-enabled devices complained about it on reddit. I don't know the exact problem because it's all hush-hush, keep the customer uninformed. Apparently, it was corrected by Amazon after approximately one week. My Third Reality zigbee contact and motion sensors all work beautifully at the moment. Until the next glitch, of course. I reinstated my original 5 star rating because I really like how these devices work for me (except for the glitches, of course).-----------------Updated review 10/31/22 and 1 star rating:It worked great, until it didn’t. It disconnected from Alexa and won’t reconnect. The sensor itself works. The red light lights up when the door is open, but what good is a sensor when Alexa can’t tell you the door is open?———————Original review 10/13/22 and original 5 star rating:This device works with my Echo Show with zigbee. I asked Alexa to "find my device" and she did. I didn't need any other hub, app, or skill, and I like that it's not wifi. I purchased a couple to use on interior doors at night so I know if a door opens or not. I set up an Alexa routine. In my house, Alexa announces the door is open within 3 seconds of opening the door. There is no down or recovery time. It'll work again within seconds.I'm very happy with it and its easy integration via zigbee with the Alexa app.
