I've been in the utility industry for over 20 years. I open hundreds, if not thousands of manholes every year. About two weeks ago, I broke the tip off of my 12 year old manhole pick. I was bummed. When you rely on a tool for your everyday job, you become particular about that tool. I searched and found this manhole pick which was very similar to the one I broke. The only thing different was the color.I was excited when it came, as it was packaged well. The next day at work, we were doing routine manhole inspections. I inserted the manhole pick into the lid pick hole of a standard 27" diameter manhole casting. I leaned back as normal, and this brand new manhole pick bent.At first, I thought is this lid stuck? But as I examined it, the lid was free of asphalt build up and only had minor silt in the seem. My co-worker went to the truck and got a crow bar, he then opened the lid with no problems. I would not recommend this product.

This product works as intended, and is very well made. It is able to move the manhole covers with ease, and does not try to bow/bend under the weight.
