This is the forth one that I bought in 5 year-period. I purchased my first one at REI but then they stopped carrying them. I hike a lot and live in the mountains and I was looking for something to sit on during my hikes. After my initial purchase, I bought another one for my dad and then one more for my mom. I also use them for clients as I do guided hiking tours. I literally swear by them!! They are super durable, the first one I purchased 5 years ago is still in good condition and it's been used a ton, multiple times a week. I use them everywhere, rocks, tree logs, wet surfaces after rain and most importantly this is a life safer to sit on in the snow. I hike a lot in the snow in winter times and there is so much snow that everything is covered in several feet of snow. Those mats are perfect for that and will keep you warm and dry. They are more expensive than others but way worth it! They are thicker than most of the other brands on the market. It's the same quality as the bigger mats used for backpacking. Highly, highly recommend.

I can't bring myself to take a chair along with me on backpacking trips. They make some pretty light backpacking chairs these days but more than a pound for a chair vs 2 oz for the Z-pad. I choose sit on a rock with the Z-pad or on my bear canister with the Z-pad on top rather than adding a pound to my base weight. In fact, the main reason I bought the Z-pad is that I will be hiking the JMT this summer and bear canisters are required. They make an OK stool for cooking, expecialy with a little bit of padding provided by the Z-pad. Another good use I have found for the Z-pad is bringing it with me on winter hikes. I can sit down on the snowy ground and not freeze my buns or get wet from the snow. The item folds up nicely and has its own latch to keep it folded while in your pack. I leave it in one of the pockets on the outside of the pack so I have easy access when I feel like taking a break. I would recommend this product to anyone who hikes a lot.

Whether you're setting around camp, fishing on the bank of your favorite lake, or hidden away trying to photograph some wildlife, this is the answer. It weighs almost nothing, is easy to carry, and keeps your bum dry and comfy.

Die Sitzmatte ist sehr leicht und kompakt. Sie wurde beim Wandern auf Herz und Nieren als Sitzunterlagen auf verschiedenem Untergrund getestet: Waldboden mit Ästen, Felsen mit Steine, Wiese, Sandiger Untergrund, Schlammiger Untergrund bei Regen. Die Matte hält was Sie verspricht nämlich ein angenehmer Sitzkomfort. Ich würde Sie jederzeit wieder kaufen.

I got this for trips to the dog park with my pup. There are metal benches that are often wet with dew. This works great to keep me warm and dry. And the compact size is great. I just keep it folded up in a bag with our dog toys.

For those familiar with Thermarest’s larger sleeping pads or Nemo’s Switchback series of long and short sleeping pads — this product is exactly that - just smaller. A LOT smaller. The accordion and bumps are exactly the same. The durability of this pad is commensurate to its larger aforementioned counterparts. This is small and light enough to not offend ultralight backpackers and easy enough to attach to the outside of a pack or fit inside. Works well in a hammock, as a seat around camp, and a “clean space” when needed along the trail for quick tasks from cooking to changing clothes. This product is vastly superior to Nemo’s competitor product made from “recycled rubber”. That’s code for hard, uncomfortable, sharp, and not durable. This product is the opposite. This product also has a built in cord to hold it closed when not being used. A very nice and not “over-engineered” feature. The only drawback to this product is the price. By square footage compared to a full size Thermarest sleeping pad, this should be much less expensive.

I wanted a small pad just for sitting on when I'm hiking and stop to have lunch. In the summer it's easy enough to just sit anywhere, but the rest of the year it's often wet so this pad is great to keep me dry. Has enough padding that it makes sitting on gravel comfortable too. Very compact - only about 12" square when open, 12" x 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" when folded up and it has a little bungee cord to hold it together. Weighs almost nothing so it's great to have in your day pack.

This seemed a little pricey (one for me, one for hubby), but well worth the money! It is crazy lightweight and comfortable. We are older and sitting on hard ground, rock, log or even metal chair or bleachers is miserable at our age. Our adult kids borrowed these and they loved them too. Santa might bring them their own! It's a little thing, but I love the tiny bungie that keeps this tidy. It was nice too, to keep dew /moisture off our bottoms. Plus it is a layer of insulation. This is absolutely a 2 thumbs up sit pad!

Negli anni ho acquistato molti prodotti Thermarest e non ho mai sbagliato. Questo è la riconferma. Spendi qualche euro in più ma poi non devi poi pensarci. Piccolo, pratico, caldo, comodo e facilmente riponibile in uno zaino. Raccomandatissimo.

I love this thing. I use to buy Mossy Oak butt pads but this is way better insulation and way more comfort. It is barely large enough to cover a rather large derriere but it works well. I attach it to my photo-bag, backpacking bag, hiking bag. What I use it for -* Sitting* Kneeling when working on something* Using it as a barrier for gear when I dont want my bag to get wet.* Great snow insulator*Extra padding under a thermarest mat*Portable pillow*When Im driving for long distance it becomes a lumbar support pillow* Sun shade* Food prep area to keep your food reasonably clean while in the woodsThe cons -I wish it was just slightly bigger, another fold would be perfect. The Pros-* Portable*The grommet makes it easy to lash onto any pack*It really does insulate... going to your kids football game.... parade etc.... 4th of July fireworks etc and you need to sit on cold ground* Pretty durable. I replace mine about every 3 years but they get a ridiculous amount of useIf you go outside or work on your knees or sit at all outside for any period of time this little guy is worth it.Just put a larger rubber band around it and viola you have a secure carrying system.Great buy.
