It did stop the single cylinder popping sound, but it sound more deep throated now like a V8 with a glass pack muffler, the old cherry bomb muffler.

I ordered the Silent Rider for my Yahama Viking, It was easy to install and appears well-made using quality material. The silencer does a great job of quietening the loudness at idle and low speeds. I can't tell that it does much at optimal speeds.

I'm hearing impaired and also an industrial hygienist, so I know a few things about sound - or rather, noise. I used an App on my iPhone, called NIOSH SLM (National Institute of Safety & Health Sound Level Meter) which is actually approved by NIOSH for measuring sound levels. I measured the sound levels in decibels (dB) before and after installation of the Silent Partner - both inside the cab and outside the cab, at the rear of the vehicle. Before installation, the average sound level in the cab running full bore up a hill, was 96.7 dB over a 60 second time frame. After installation, the average sound level was 93.2 dB which is actually about a 25% decrease in noise level. Unfortunately, this is far over OSHA's acceptable level of 85 dB. Keep in mind, there probably isn't any UTV that can sustain that low of a level, but there's so many other factors involved, such as time, attenuation, sound dampening, etc. The results were much better for the sound levels outside the cab, 6 feet to the rear of the vehicle which had a before reading of 95.8 dB and after installation reading of 83 dB! So, while the Silent Partner may reduce levels inside the cab by 25%, you should still wear hearing protection if you're are doing any sustained driving, and if you are concerned about bothering the neighbors, the Silent Partner seems to be a an even better fit. Personally, I'm going to return the unit, because I will need to wear hearing protection (I prefer ear muffs), with, or without the Silent Partner.

After reading several not-so-great reviews, i was actually pleasantly surprised by the way this muffler has quietened my 2015 Yamaha Viking. It’s NOT silent by any means, but I never expected it to be. I’m very happy with my purchase after a few months of running it! I’d buy again!

The muffler works but was hoping for more. It is defiantly not as loud but that is the 709 for you. Also, be very careful getting the stock end cap off the muffler. I had 2 out of the 3 bolts break because the carbon build up seizes them.

The noise reduction provided is almost nonexistent. Measured the decibel level using an App, so it wouldn't hold up in court, but that said, in measured no change on the meter, which I could have guessed just by listening. Don't waste your money.
