Product Description

BEADSMITH 40 YEARS IN THE MAKING - RICKS BEADING LOOMS

The Ricks Beading Loom is easy to fully assemble with three warp rods , four warp pegs , a warp separator card and easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions fully illustrated in color to get you started. Sturdy hardwood construction for a lifetime of beading. The ergonomic design lets you to bead at a comfortable, natural angle and lessens strain on your wrists. Fully adjustable from two to twelve inches in length — this allows you to make a variety of projects of nearly any size. A perfect finish every time! You’re left with only TWO WARP THREADS to weave back in after you complete your project. The same project woven on an ordinary loom (left) leaves you with lots of messy warp threads to weave back in. With The Ricks Beading Loom, you never have more than two warp threads left to deal with. You can use any size or shape bead without any adapters – even mix bead sizes and types in the same project. Create jewelry and wearable art impossible to make on other looms. You can loom with Japanese cylinder beads, seed beads of any size (and mix sizes if you wish). You can loom with two-hole flat beads, bi-cone or fire polished crystals. All without making any changes or installing any adaptors on your loom. You’re finally free to create, to do what the artist inside of you dictates.

this beading loom is well made and perfect for any size beads since it does not have grooves to place your threads, you space your threads according to the size of your bead. I am very happy with it, already used it twice.

I love having only two warp threads to deal with, but this loom has some issues. The metal poles the threads go over need to be more stiff and they flex too easily, and the little rubber caps that go on each end fall off way too easily, and once they hit carpet they are gone. Since the poles flex so easily it can be hard to get the same length for bracelets.

Unfortunately, as it's sold, this loom is really NOT ideal for making large projects. I bought this loom with plans to make pieces 40+ beads across and it is basically impossible. The largest project I was successfully able to string was about 35 beads across, and to do so I had to replace the warp bars with long machine rods. That said, if you're interested in making smaller, thinner pieces (e.g. bracelets and chokers) this loom is a great option for eliminating the hassle of warp threads.Even when making smaller projects, this loom can be difficult to string. The warp bars provided are completely smooth, so your warp threads will slide around, making it difficult to keep them an even width apart from one another. I suspect this is because the designer of this loom seems to like making pieces that use beads of many different shapes and sizes-- for which these warp bars would be ideal. If you want to make loom pieces wider than 1-2inches using Miyuki delica beads, or other tiny, uniform seed beads, this loom can be extremely frustrating to thread. Smaller pieces are pretty manageable. It can also be very difficult to estimate the precise amount of space needed for a piece on this loom, especially if you are using a design that doesn't repeat. Unfortunately, there is basically no way to correct if you start a piece and discover you have too much/not enough room left.Ultimately, I can't recommend this loom unless you are only interested in making smaller (in width) pieces.

With a small modification to the bead loom I was able to make it work even better! This loom from the start works very good! I recommend this item!

I purchased this loom in March, 2024. Just got a chance to open it. It is definitely cheaply made. The wood is not smooth. The pegs don't fit the holes and one was chipped. The stoppers for the bars only have holes on one side. So they don't keep the bar steady. I was out of the return window (my fault). Lesson learned. I do hope beadsmith reads these reviews. The seller was gracious this is nothing to do with them.

this loom for bracelets and "shorter/smaller" pieces is perfect. It looks great and is very sturdy and a bid heavy which is a requirement for me. The only complaint I have is that you must know the exact length of the product you are making from the start and that, in my case anyway, I find a little limiting, because I do tend to change my mind sometimes based on how the pattern is coming along. This should not be a problem for everyone.

I love this loom, but it is very difficult to get the beads to the top and to bead all the way to the bottom when using seed beads. It could be easier if you have larger beads, but the tiny seeds are very difficult to use for the entire length. That said, I love this loom. I just use it a little differently. I've made about 8 or 9 bandolier bag tassels, but I don't try to take them entirely to the top or bottom. I leave a little room at the top and bottom and use "fabric fray stop" at the top because this salvage edge can hide inside the bag, and the bottom of the tassel tapers to a single bead. I weave the little bits of the bottom warp into the knot at the end and all of this will be hidden inside a single large bead and the pom pom at the end.

Love this loomYou can make as short or as long of any beading project. I did a quick bracelet to review and it only took a little under an hour to finish. I also have smaller beading loom, which to me takes way more time to finish projects and only goes up to 5 1/2 in length. So if you were looking to do more with a loom, this will be your best option. It's a little on the pricey side, but worth it.
