I have a 5 year old male Shih tzu who had a few fleas on him. I purchased this flea collar in hopes that this would stop an infestation before it started. The collar arrived and I bathed my little guy, used a flea comb on him and brushed him as usual. Not too many fleas came off him as I said he only had a few. I then placed the collar around his neck. I didn’t notice him scratching. I sincerely thought the bath and collar was working, boy was I wrong! Two days later he began scratching, every time I turned around the little guy was scratching, he was laying in the floor playing with his toys and he fell asleep, he rolls over and his belly has began to turn a bit red, I bend down to look at his belly and fleas just scatter! Not little tiny fleas, but the huge ones with the big “butts” that will make the popping noise. Wasn’t this flea collar supposed to keep fleas off him? And wasn’t it supposed to last for 6 months? My little guy goes outside long enough to go potty and he’s right back inside. So far I have not noticed any fleas inside my home, but with the amount on him I’d be surprised if an infestation doesn’t soon start inside as well. This collar was a waste of money. I should have gone with my gut and purchase the more expensive name brand.

We've tried many over the years. I like these best. Second time using them on all 3 dogs. They smell okay and do the job. I then heard a radio thing about them by a none biased reporter and supposedly these are the safest for humans and pets...while being the best at what they are suppose to do...keep fleas and ticks off. We've never had a flea problem really...only seen a few here in over 20 years...but our dogs used to get ticks fairly regularly. But in the last 2 years using these collars, only 1 dog got a tick once. Major improvement. And with this pack you get 2 big collars and cut them to size. So there is enough to do our border Collie and 2 of our mixed breed little dogs. And because there are only 2 buckles, one on each collar, for the third collar I just measure to the 3rd dogs neck size, use a leather punch to make a hole in each end and then attach using a plastic wire tie. Works great.

I bought these two collars about three months ago to cut down on cost of flea and tick treatments (was using NexGuard). The collars are individually wrapped, which preserves the treatment and adds a very nice touch to the packaging (the outer being a sealed tin can). These were a much cheaper alternative to my veterinary medicine for him and I can say that I saved $90 on six months of medicine. This brings me to my next point. As for longevity, if your dog is a house pet, I could see these collars lasting six months a piece, but if you have more than one dog or they are outdoor dogs, these won't last as long. I live next door to four Pyrenees/Anatolian, two wolves and two American Staffordshire Terriers and one Mastiff. Being that my dog is an outdoor dog and the high population of ticks/fleas in the area, each collar has lasted three months. I am not complaining about this, as the product worked very well and the price makes it worth the investment, but the longevity if you are looking for these to last as long as advertised under similar circumstances to mine, I want you to know the practical longevity under such high use. You still will save money on flea and tick treatments for the six months that these will last under such use, but the choice is yours. Overall, I am extremely happy with this product. It's durability and price point make it well worth the investment. The product's scent will diminish as it is used more and more and it works even in the rain very efficiently. I will be ordering these collars again and hope that the manufacturer doesn't change its methods in making these except to improve the longevity of it in practical use.

Ok,after reading reviews and seeing pictures, I was very hesitant about trying this product. I normally use soresto collar,and never had any issues,except for the price. I have 2 Boxers,1 is white and has sensitive skin.She never had any reaction to the Soresto,and I saw the same thing with their reviews,certain dogs have a bad reaction or skin allergy to the collar. I decided I would give this product a try. Upon opening it,it does have a very strong smell,not necessarily bad,but strong. Before putting it on my dogs,I hung it up,outside in direct sunlight for about an hour. The aroma was still present,but...no where NEAR as strong as when opened. I put the collars on both dogs and watched them VERY closely for any reaction or side effects. No reactions from either dog! No skin irritations, no vomiting, no diarrhea, and best of all,no fleas or ticks at all. Not sure about mosquitoes, but i have a lot of them in my area,and have not noticed any of the "raised welt" bite marks typically left on my dog.To sum it up,so far,this has been a great product,and a huge savings. All dogs are different, will your dog have a reaction? I wish I could tell you no. But,my sensitive ,runt,white boxer girl,and my fawn girl,did just fine with these. If you try it,do like I did and air it out for an hr,and watch the neck area close for the first few days. If you notice something different,TAKE IT OFF! If your a good dog parent, you'll know right away if it's no good for your pal.UPDATE:AUG.21 2021...My girls have now had this collar on almost all summer. We've been swimming,outside at the park,and spent 2 wks in the mountains of W.Va.I have not found a single flea or tick on either dog,and there has been absolutely no hair loss or irritation on the neck area or near the collar. Again,all dogs are different,but this has been a great product. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, but strongly suggest watching your best friend closely for the first few hrs/days.Also make sure you read the bad reviews for the soresto collars,exact same reactions,with certain dogs.
