I was so excited to get this pen! I had seen it for sale on several other writing and stationary websites that I visited, but Amazon had the best price. It's an absolutely gorgeous pen, it just writes like horribly. It lays down the ink very unevenly. The strokes skip a lot, so you end up with blank spaces that you need to write back over. You also have to dip the pen very frequently. I've spent far less money on glass nib pens that write considerably better than this one. It's just that this one was so gorgeous. What a shame!

This is my second capped Teranishi as I broke the nib of my first teal one - a replacement nib is half the cost of a new pen but I couldn’t pass up this pink pattern!I also have a standard glass pen by Teranishi which I like, but I find this design writes more smoothly. The cap comes off with only one or two turns; to post it, you screw the cap onto the back.I think the narrower and longer tip design is what makes this pen a better writer than a standard glass pen, but that same feature makes the tip more fragile. I snapped my first one off when I was drying the nib, so I recommend not wiping it onto anything horizontally, but instead holding the pen up and pulling the nib down through a loosely-held towel/cloth using a spiral/turning motion. Or maybe just let it air dry on a good pen rest! The other drawback is that the price is almost double that of the standard design, so unless you are careful with your glass pens you might want to go with the other Teranishi model or maybe a Herbin glass pen instead. Both of those are solid writers if a bit prone to scratchiness (cheaper glass pens are even worse but at least those aren’t as upsetting to chip/break).Alas, I didn’t realize this model line was just a bit fatter and also quite a bit longer than my original model. I might buy that replacement nib after all as I quite like the length and girth of my first one (I have small hands).
