1.Style:Brake Control

  • PROPORTIONAL ELECTRIC BRAKE CONTROLLER: Provides automatic braking based on the intensity and rate at which you apply your tow vehicle’s brakes, giving you smooth braking thanks to an internal inertia sensor. This makes the Primus IQ brake controller ideal for general and heavy-duty emergency braking.
  • EASILY INSTALL AND STOW, THANKS TO PLUG & PLAY: The Primus IQ trailer brake controller has a snap-in dash mounting clip, Plug & Play port for two plug adapters, and removeable electrical connector so the unit can be easily unplugged, unclipped, and stored.
  • EASY-TO-READ LED DISPLAY: Digital LED display shows settings, real-time diagnostics, and alerts.
  • BOOST FEATURE PROVIDES EXTRA BRAKING POWER: Boost provides up to three levels of additional stopping power at the touch of a button, giving you confidence in stopping safely when you’re hauling heavier loads and/or need more power to stop.
  • VERSATILE: The Primus IQ electric brake controller is compatible with a wide range of vehicles including Ford, GM, Chevy, Dodge, RAM, Toyota, Jeep, and more with 2, 4, or 6

The Tekonsha Primus IQ Proportional Electric Trailer Brake Controller gives you dependable braking power in a compact design. As an industry staple for more than ten years, this electronic brake controller kit provides a smooth braking response in any stopping situation. With its petite yet durable exterior, this electric brake controller fits nicely under the dash, making it easily accessible from the driver’s seat without being in the way. This insightful digital trailer brake controller has an easy-to-read LED display, self-diagnostic check to monitor your connection and trailer braking activity and is self-leveling when mounted within a 90-degree vertical range, so there’s no need to adjust the unit once it’s installed. The electric trailer brake controller also features a power output knob to set your desired braking power, a boost option that lets you apply up quickly and easily to three levels of additional trailer braking power, especially when hauling heavier loads, and manual override. The Primus IQ electric brake controller for trailer was created to work with electric braking systems, works proportionally in reverse to make backing into tough spots a bit easier, and - like the Prodigy P3, Prodigy P2, and many other Tekonsha brake controllers, utilizes primary sensor technology to ensure the smoothest stop possible. When you’re done towing, the IQ’s snap-in dash mounting clip, Plug & Play port for two plug adapters, and removeable electrical connector allow the unit to be quickly stored. The Primus IQ brake controller works with trailers with 1-3 axles, comes with all necessary mounting hardware, and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Works GREAT! Way better than my old one. Easy to set. Then if I decide I need more breaking power I just push a button and that's it. No balancing between 2 adjusters like my old one. My wife always complained about me messing with the controller trying to get it set properly. NO MORE. Set it, forget it or just tap one button. Also works at a greater angle than my old one.

Definitely a need for pulling a camper, which is what I bought it for. Works well with my Jayco 264BH and makes towing a lot safer with my half ton pickup. Great price for a proportional brake controller.

Pretty cool product, I’ve used for approximately 5 tows so far and it works nicely. I like being able to pinch the side button and activate the trailer brakes only. The different boost levels are obviously calibrated properly, after testing. Very pleased so far - exactly what I needed.

Works well as far as I can tell for trailer braking. My only issue was when trying to mount it. It comes with two mounts. One is a snap-in type of bracket that works fine, but I wanted to use the more traditional bracket that gives you the ability to adjust the angle. That bracket requires holes in the controller itself, which aren't pre tapped. Holding the controller with one hand and trying to hand screw tiny self-tapping screws through plastic with the other hand isn't easy. You obviously don't want to drill a pilot hole into the controller, and I didn't want to put it in a vise to hold it steady. So, needing the controller that day, I ditched the mount I wanted to use and went with the snap mount. I attached a picture of the side of the controller and the divots for the holes that aren't there.

I installed this on a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a factory towing package. The Jeep already had a connector under the dash, so I ordered the adapter to fit it, then just plugged it into the brake controller. The controller worked exactly as specified. Very easy to set initial brake pressure for an unloaded trailer then very easy to reset brake pressure for a fully loaded trailer. If I stop suddenly, it applies a lot of voltage (this is adjustable) to the electric brakes on the trailer. If I stop slowly, it applies a smaller voltage (this is adjustable) to the electric brakes on the trailer. Nice LED readout lets you know how much voltage is being applied to the electric brakes so you can fine tune the voltage to the load on the trailer. Proportional brake controller Works Great!

These brake controllers hit the sweet spot of price and performance. All the more expensive controllers give you are generally pointless options (multiple trailers, 360 mounting, fancy screen, etc). Even people like me with multiple trailers and vehicles will probably NEVER use any of these extra features. In the end, they just waste your money and make the brake controller more complicated to use. This controller functions exactly as one should. With no trailer, you don't even notice it's there. The display isn't intrusive, and completely shuts off aside from a small, dim light to let you know it still works. With a trailer, it just works. The controls are simple, the boost functions are easy to use and understand, and the adjustability is straightforward. Installation is as easy as any other brake controller, and at 70 degrees you'd be hard pressed to find a spot it won't work in. Braking action is smooth and consistent, and the manual override works as it should. The display tells you whether it's connected, and how much power it's feeding to the brakes, and that's about it. Fantastically simple and effective.Long story short, I already installed 3 of them in 3 separate vehicles, and we just purchased an '03 Explorer that will be the fourth. We use this mainly for a 3 horse slant.

Controller works flawlessly the way it was intended. It is very versatile with the options to choose from based on weight and amount of axles on trailer. I own a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd and Paired with: Tekonsha 3015-P Brake Control Wiring Adapter for GM. The harness made the install a breeze and made no need for splicing wires. Was quoted $350 in Calgary for this setup that costed half and took a whole 7 minutes to install and I had to supply zip ties to keep wires from the mentioned adapter out of the way. All in all works for me and keeps my trailers braking safely at a reasonable cost.
