I built a small CNC Machine to cut wood, as well as intricate inlay, out of various shells, and other materials. Precision and control of the bit is a must, especially when dealing with 1mm thick abalone. I used to cut this by hand. I'm luthier and I build custom guitars. I also design unique, one of a kind fretboard inlays, not only for my use, but for other luthiers.Since the addition of this collet, I've seen a marked improvement of how the inlays are coming out of the machine. In the photos you'll see some pieced of long thin pieces which will eventually become a vine inlay in a fretboard. I had just taken these out of the cnc when the photo was taken. These pieces are only 1.5mm wide. I designed then cut the Forget-Me-Not Fretboard pieces using this collet. I bought a 1/4" collet as well.

I originally purchased a cheap collet for my CNC machine. Then I realized that not all collets are equivalent. The cheap collet allowed for significantly more runout. This caused wider cuts. It would either break my tools or I would have to slow down the cut speed significantly.This collet is absolutely worth the few extra bucks. You will easier save more than that in what it will cost you to replace broken tools. Don't try to save money on your collet. You can save money somewhere else, but not on the collet.

This is a great quality chuck for not much more money than you would pay for bad ones. Highly recommended and I'l definitely keep buying from Techniks in the future.

Hallelujah!! Finally found a company that I can trust to deliver CNC tooling components that actually meet or exceed tolerances as advertised. This ER11 Collet is extremely high quality and I've measured the run-out to less than .0001"... Product was delivered ahead of estimated delivery dates and very well packaged.. And best of all, no Chinese markings on the packaging! Going forward, I plan to use Hemly Tool Supply exclusively for all of my CNC needs.

only slightly more expensive than chinese collets on here but well worth the difference in precision.
