This book is a real support for Fashion Design students and Fashion Designers. Contains almost all the answers and theory learned at college and that even teachers couldn't talk about, in just one book and its CD.

I attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and this was one of our require textbooks for Technical Design and Manufacturing Concepts. This book is excellent! It expounds on design in fashion with a focus on technical design, the development of clothing, the creation of tech packs, and the business aspect of fashion. I am so glad I found this book for $16 instead of the standard $88+. What a great deal! I'd recommend to anyone who is serious about fashion but does't know where to get started.

Loads of information. The writing style of some of the dense text in the first chapter is a bit lacking in clarity but the information throughout the book is excellent. Probably one of the most thorough guides to clothing production and spec packs and a great reference book. It is a good idea to skim the book and then use as reference when needed instead of trying to read the whole thing. The detail on stitching and seam finishes has helped me a lot, especially for technical terms. I did hesitate a bit at the price, but so far it has proven its worth.

I've worked in sourcing and production department over 15 years. It's very useful to understand tech-pack in the right communication of garment detail and measurment. I recommend this to students and beginners in fashion biz.

I read this book to review it as a textbook in a class I teach but ended up learning things myself. I have been a professional in the apparel industry for 10 years and reading this reminded me of things I had learned and sort of forgotten about because of the area of apparel design my career has focused on. Reading it made me realize that I once I got into the industry I sort of forgot about some of the things I learned in school because under the pressure of deadlines, I overlooked some of the great creative details I would have addressed if I had time. This is a great textbook because it addresses all areas of techinical design not just some. I would have loved it as a student because one book could have been used for many subject instead of buying one for each (with a bunch of useless information in each I did not need.) Again, this is a pleasure to read and valuable resource. It reminds me of how much I know, how much I love this industry and that I can always learn more.

With 20 years industry experience and 10 years of teaching technical design and patternmaking, I think this is the most thorough reference I've seen. I have already recommended it to two small companies for whom I do freelance work and I used it myself as a reference when I was working on a product category that is new to me. I think this book will be good for students, for small companies who don't have a lot of technical knowledge and also as a reference book in the library of larger companies who do have technical expertise on staff but need all that knowledge colated in one place. Since it is a dense book, my recommendation would be to spend an hour skimming through all the chapters to familiarize yourself with the content. And then when you have a question, you'll be able to read that section thoroughly. There is an incredible amount of useful information is this book.

From my perspective, the content of this book is pretty simplistic. Useful to students or entry level positions.
