About this item

  • Meets UL standards for Child Pool Safety Law
  • Includes extra set of sensors and bypass reset button for use on both sliding glass doors and screen doors
  • Water and weather resistant
  • High Output 110-120 dB, 6-Tone Alarm. "Always On" Alarm Protection

Techko's S187 Safe Pool Alarm is designed to monitor a gate, door, window or other entryway to you pool area. A high output 110 dB alarm siren sounds when the magnetic contact is broken without pressing the adult bypass button. Two sensors are included so that you can have your sliding glass door open, with your screen door shut, leaving the alarm active. This alarm is always in protective mode and will sound the instant a door, window or gate is opened and will continue until the bypass button is triggered. The S187D is ETL listed and approved under UL 2017 standards.

I have reordered this product 3 times, but not because it's a great product. The first time we bought this, it wouldn't turn on at all despite trying several fresh batteries. The second time we we reordered, it worked but the alarm was so faint, it was barely audible. The third time we re-ordered. it finally worked properly. I know most of us are only buying this to pass city pool installation inspections. If I had a choice, i would not recommend this alarm. Getting 2 faulty units right off the bat makes me question the quality of this product. Especially when being used as a safety measure...I really don't trust that it will last. Alas...this is the only approved alarm for a lot of us, so my advice is this: order multiples of this at the same time in case you get stuck with some duds right out of the box. I do appreciate the very timely delivery from Amazon on all 3 times i ordered this, though.

I bought and paid for four new alarms and received 3 new and one used. I can't get a hold of the seller through Amazon seller feedback, as it keeps showing a picture of a different item I bought for the seller feedback. I sent a message and never heard from them with what I thought was for the seller. The ones that were new were fine and worked as needed.

We just had a pool bill and we needed these to pass our final inspection. They were very easy to put up. Make sure you clean the wall because the adhesive is not very sticky. I actually bought my own adhesive tape because it kept falling down. The alarm is loud and it works exactly like it should.

Let's face it. Many of us are buying this device just to make it past the inspector. This is reasonably priced, and super easy to install 10" before they arrive. It is a little bulky (about the size of a extra long cube of butter, and requires a 9V battery. People complain that the adhesive tape is not strong enough or long lasting enough. I gave it 5 stars. I assume the manufacturer knows some people want to pull this off their wall after inspection without taking your paint with it. For pennies you can buy more durable tape if you needed it. I removed 2 of these with no damage to my wall, but I left mine on in my garage and it's still up months later, so I think they hit the balance perfectly. It works well, and it is LOUD. I gave 3 stars for ease of use because it is a frustrating device. You press the bypass button to buy you a 10 second break to exit the house, but when I want to come back in, the bypass button is inside, so you can't get to it without opening the door, triggering the (did I say LOUD) alarm, and then reaching for the bypass button. Heaven forbid I am carrying something through the door and don't have an extra arm to cancel the alarm. Not exactly the product's fault, but definitely a frustration. Overall, though, for a fair price the product served my needs perfectly.

While there are some so-so reviews online, we have to say these pool door alarms (we bought 3) are all working very well, as advertised, no issues. They are a bit tricky to install, and there are somewhat unsightly short wires taped to the walls/doors (I'm not talented or ambitious enough to drill through the walls), but they are all working very well (including two that have both the reg door and screen door alarmed from the single unit). The wires can be a bit short, causing some placement issues depending on your door frame/casing designs, and you will likely need to cut through the casing to install properly on flat surfaces that align. It's possible that over time the wires will fray or break from wear & tear of many door openings & closings. Battery installation was actually pretty easy, despite numerous reviews saying otherwise. The self-stick sensors were pretty good, though we did augment that with some super-sticky 2-way tape for the outside sensors. We just passed inspection, no issues at all. The bypass buttons on both sides of the doors are all working great. And we are going to keep them alarmed - obviously the safety aspect is very important, so resist the urge to pull the batteries after inspection is over. And this saved us what easily would have been $1000+ to upgrade our deck fence (between house & pool) to meet code. Now we have the alarms, plus our existing fence which, at almost 3.5' high, is already an effective barrier even though it does not meet 'pool fence code'. We definitely recommend these alarms.

Cons: - You have to drill all the way through the wall to outside to run the outside bypass button - There's no way to temporarily disable it, other than pulling the battery out, and pulling the battery out of it is a pita - The bypass delay is too shortPro: - It's super loud - CheapI hate it. I'd like something smarter that connects with nest

I am very satisfied with this pool alarm. My number one priority was that I needed a UL 2017 pool alarm to put 54" up on my back door to pass inspection. I did not want to spend a ton of money, but did not want an item that fell apart either. This alarm takes one 9-Volt battery that is easy to insert even while mounted. You have double stick adhesive to mount everything -alarm and sensors, but also have the option to permanently affix the product with screws (included). I like that I can bypass the alarm in and outside of my door. There is even an extra set of sensors for a screen door. When you primary door is open and the screen door shut, the alarm won't sound. The alarm was delivered in sturdy packaging and easy enough to open. The alarm and sensors came with a good set of instructions. Set-up was less than 5 minutes. Once you open the door, the alarm will sound, unless you hit the bypass button first. If you hit the bypass button first and open the door, you have 10 seconds to move through the door and close it, otherwise the alarm will sound. If you leave the door open more than that, the alarm will elicit a different tone, and will increase in intensity until you attend to it. If you are not used to an alarm on your door, this may annoy you at first. After a few weeks, my family is used to the alarm and it's actually helping my kids to keep the door closed (bonus). This alarm has not failed and I not only PASSED INSPECTION, I am very pleased with this alarm and it's functionality.
