I was a bit concerned about quality before purchasing but am delighted with the product. I tested it with distilled water and it showed the TDS as 0 ppm with the EC as 1 ”S/cm. Tap water was 285ppm TDS and the EC was 606 ”S/cm. Testing the water in my hydroponic unit showed the TDS as 921 and EC as 1959 ”S/cm. These all seemed right. The unit itself is very easy to use and quick to respond. Recommended.

Seems to do the job! Unless it's making things up, the TDS difference between just usual softened water and the RO filtered water was crazy significant!

I am not sure how much accurate or not. I have tested on tap water, ozone-filtered water, and distilled water. The comparison looked valid. I tried different times and the numbers were almost the same with previous records. However, it showed a higher record when I tried on hot water. I do not know much about how it effects. But When I tried them with hot water, records came higher correspondingly.

It seems to work all right, but I'd like some printed information on what elements it registers. Also, and right from the start, I had to find out by myself that a straight-on reading is fuzzy; sharpest reading is at a tilt from flat down. Good point: it uses a CR 2032 battery, which is easy to find at a low price.

Purchased 2/17/2021. On 11/12/2024 the display was faded so I went to replace the battery, only to discover YOU CAN'T REPLACE THE BATTERY! I liked the "color changes" on the display from green to red. With a pair of needle nose pliers, the entire assembly comes out, but, the button cell battery IS connected in place and if there is a way to take the battery out, I can't see it!

I thought my tap water was tasting funny, so I got this to test it. Within 2 minutes of opening it, I found out my tap water is actually okay and it just tastes funny (but itâs nice to know itâs potable).Itâs super easy to use, literally only takes a couple seconds to test. Just for fun, I also tested my water filter and bottled water. I donât go hiking or camping, but this would probably be extremely useful for those types of scenarios.

The first image is the TDS reading from one of my shrimp tanks. The idea that my TDS is 531 ppm is absolute absurdity. At that range my shrimp should be failing to molt and dying. I have multiple colonies of cherry red shrimp, blue dream shrimp, amano shrimp, and a single bamboo shrimp. I have not lost a single shrimp, especially not to a failed molt. It's far more likely the TDS is at about 231 or 331, a range livable by the shrimp. The second image is me reading RODI water straight from the system. It reads at about a 3 but after the water cools and settles it'll read a 0. It really seems like the accuracy only works when you are trying to read if you RODI system is working or not. Otherwise checking your tanks TDS is utterly useless with this device. Sure its easy to use and read, but I guess with this thing being so cheap you get what you pay for in terms of accuracy. Only purchase if you intend to use it to read straight RODI water, otherwise, skip this item.

Iâm growing chili peppers hydroponically. I need to test my TDS to ensure the proper nutrient concentration in the water.This tool measures the TDS, EC, and temperature (both C and F). It appears to be accurate as far as I can tell. I tested our tap water and the screen turned red and showed the PPM over 600 (?!?). Then I tested our filtered water from the fridge which has a cheap filter and it was still red and over 600 ppm. Next it tested bottled water from the dispenser and it was around 300. Finally, I tested some distilled water and it read 0.The controls are easy: on/off/hold (which only holds the PPM/EC, not the temp), clear, and mode (to switch between PPM, EC, Temo C, and Temp F).The meter appears to be fairly consistent. I donât have a good way to test the accuracy other than filtered water, but itâs certainly trustworthy enough for my purposes. The instructions claim that the TDS calculation compensates for temperature, and I believe that since it reads temperature.I do wish there was a way to get the raw EC value because the conversion factor has a large dependence on the type of solids suspended in the water.From what Iâve read, you need to be careful not to submerge too much of the meter so that water wonât come into contact with the internal electronics. I havenât tested this, but keep the water between the min/max levels and be careful not to drop into the water.
