I have one of those expensive EC meters but I wanted a backup, I received and tried this one a couple of times now in my hydroponics systems and it seems consistent and accurate. The only missing information was that it didn't say the conversion factor as they differ from one manufacturer to another and from one region to another, this one seems like it is PPM 500 (the other one is PPM 700)*** This product was received for free under Amazon Vine program

I use this to measure the TDS of the top off reservoir for my salt water fish tank as a back-up to the TDS reader built into my RODI unit.Since anything other than 0 is a problem for me, I find it to be accurate enough for my use.Recommended overall.

Like the title says it’s a simple and effective little meter it works perfectly for monitoring the level of total dissolved solids in your RODI water making sure that your filter is working properly it’s cheap insurance to keep your reef tank and all the life in it as healthy and happy as it deserves to be I couldn’t ask for a better solution

I am on well water where I live, and the water quality (and hardness) changes through the year. I was interested in tracking it to see how much it changes. This TDS meter is super simple to use. Turn it on, sink it into the water, voila, a reading. I assume it is accurate but will be able to tell in about a month when the results from a chemical analysis I had done are back. I'll update this review if they're different.Some don't like the little coin batteries it uses, but I'm not sure why. For most people, it will likely take years to drain the batteries. I'm more surprised by the fact that the instructions are SO LONG. Turn it on, stick it in water no deeper than the line. For this, it takes 2 pages of explanation. No matter.Great and simple little device. Recommended!

Seems to work fine, but testing the exact same water in a covered cup at different times of the day will give you a different result. So, I don't know, maybe it's not that great.
