Super produit!

Nice toy, but a wee too much auto-tune sound for my liking, but it boots up a low gain mic nicely!

I use this during rehearsal, on the fly for some subtle changes and it works just great. The 'tone' knob adds a little 'zing' to the vocal, which is surprisingly effective. I thought it would sound gimmicky, but it's fun on most stuff. Good quality build too.

First off: thank you TC-Helicon for making your VoiceSupport software compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 /PowerPC, so I could download the latest firmware and switch to the "less bright" setting (hold the tone button while pushing the footswitch). This setting sounds better with my voice, but wasn't available out of the box. I expected I'd have to borrow someone's computer to download the firmware update, and was pleasantly surprised that VoiceSupport runs just fine on my old Mac.So far I've played around with it at home and can easily hear the difference using the Tone button - the compression and EQ are obvious, not sure why some reviews don't hear the difference with it in or out. Reverbs and delays sound good and seem like a useful set of choices. Not sure yet about the pitch correction. I guess the people that turn it up and don't hear any difference must have perfect pitch! It has a bit of a chorus-type sound once you set it high enough, and gets very artificial sounding beyond that. At lower settings (maybe 10 o'clock or lower) you don't hear it - maybe that exactly what you want though, something subtle. Looking forward to using it in a live setting to see how well it works as a "personal sound engineer". My impression of the build quality is that it is a well-built piece of gear. Metal box, heavy weight (it's not going to move much once you put in where you want it), smooth action on the switches and knobs.

This product is a complete waste of money. I ended up selling it. The vocal channel on my acoustic combo amp has built in reverb and that is all you need. I used this at an open mic gig where I was the host and we ended up disconnecting it after the second performer. Don't believe the YouTube videos that testify this as being a good product. Save your money, utilize reverb and invest your time and money in vocal lessons/vocal coaching and practicing your vocal scales & exercises DAILY. There is NO REPLACEMENT for the true vocalist who can sing a tune accappella and ON KEY. That, my friends, is what we should all be striving for !

If you know absolutely nothing about effects, pre-amps or how to set up a mic... This is the easiest way to significantly sweeten up your vocals. Just plug it in, turn it on and go! The reverb selection is somewhat limited, but what you get sounds fantastic! The pitch correction is very transparent even with it cranked up to the 3:00 position. TC Helicon is a name you can always trust for quality. I have a lot of bigger better equipment to play with, but I wanted simplicity and almost pocketable portability. The Mic Mechanic delivered on all fronts! It is a great value and it will bring your vocals leaps and bounds above just plugging a mic into your PA or mixer.

The one button control for general mic corrections is great. I think it is the same processor as TC has on another box. There is a significant difference in tonal quality with the preset in use. And the various special effects (reverb, echo, slap back, general room/ club /hall) work well. I have tried the echo timing stomp button and it seems fine, however I don't sing the type of music that requires an pronounced echo so I don't use the stomp button - which is a shame since it has some pretty sophisticated features. The pitch corrector is worse than useless. It actually makes singing more difficult if not impossible, even at a low setting. It is a joke. I turn it completely off, or at last as off as you can get by using the dial. Even half way up makes trying to get the right pitch on a subtle song like trying to walk straight when you are drunk. I was becoming unset with myself thinking I was getting worse in matching a pitch in a song. But after turning the pitch corrector off I found that the problem was really with the TC trying to "correct" my pitch. Which is even worse when you use vibrato. Vibrato totally confuses the pitch corrector.I am glad I have this box for the special effects, (I use the slap back at a 1/4 setting) and the wonderful tone quality preset (the white button with the red light in the middle). I am disappointed that TC sells this box with a pitch corrector. They should wait until they can get it right. It is misleading and small minded in my view to include it on this otherwise fine box and charge everyone for something that just makes things worse. Which is why I give the box three stars. If you can get a box with TC's general correction filter and a few standard effects I would recommend going that route.
