Update: There is no adhesive of any kind. Useless. I had to trim mine, so no return is possible. Taylor site lists this "Pickguard, Static Universal, Reusable universal electrostatic pickguard." The Amazon page description by the seller doesn't make this clear.

I like this protection cover that Taylor put out. I have a bad habit of letting my fingernails getting into the tops of my guitars, especially the cedar tops. These can be placed over the area. They are transparent and can easily be peeled off and put on at will.If you have a problem keeping your tops from getting dented, struck with fingernails or just want to protect this area, these are for you. Please check if there is any issue covering your finish. Mine are French polished and it doesn’t seem to harm the finish. Easy to redo anyway.

I just got it and applied it. I haven’t played with it on yet but it seems like it will protect my guitar just fine. I think it could work on a lot of guitars and I put it on a Takamine EG540C. Some people complain about bubbles, but if you take the cardboard that came on the package and fold it so it has a slightly rounded edge you can push out most, if not all, of the bubbles. I still have some bubbles left but you almost can’t see them now so I stopped pushing them out so I could play. I can’t give it 4.5 stars or I would but it seems almost perfect. And I picked it up and put it down a few times to get it in the right spot . I’m excited to have the protection as I bought this guitar used and it has a little wear where the guard should have been. The two pictures of my guitar show the actual pick guard applied. The third picture is from the product description just to show the shape, which is hard to see, but it’s not a rectangle which you might think if just you looked at the product pics without studying them. Taylor might sell more if people could easily see the shape because nobody wants a big rectangular pick guard. Easy to apply and reapply so if you need one just buy it.

Not the same size as the factory pickguard I removed. Works best on gloss top guitars.

Had to cut it to shape and it doesn't actually stick to the guitar. Waste of money.

It doesn't stop you getting a good sound from tapping the guitar. That's the good. The package arrives with no instructions for effectively applying it, and it literally is just a piece of plastic film for nearly ten quid. It's pretty visible and doesn't look great at all...well, it looks like you've got a piece of cheap plastic film stuck to the front of your guitar. Because you have.I'm probably going to ditch it and just accept that my guitar will get slowly roughed up by my nails.

Ideal, just what I wanted. unobtrusive and easy to apply and remove. Adheres to the guitar without any problems.

Does exactly what it says it does. It clings to the guitar and protects it from the pick. My Taylor has a satin finish and it *does* have a pick guard, but I play pretty aggressive rhythm and the small area between sound hole and where the plastic guard starts was starting to get some wear (I've only had the guitar for two months!) so I knew I had to do something. I purchased the guitar at Guitar Center and was told there wasn't anything like this pickguard- I'm happy I didn't take his word for it! I'm thinking about purchasing another one for above the sound hole as well.

Before buying this, I'd seen reviews with complaints that it doesn't stick properly, or that it curls up like you see in the picture. I did not find this to be the case. I found it to be a great pick guard, and it stays put. I suspect it's adhesive qualities would diminish if I were to take it on and off repeatedly, but there's no need to do that.It is almost totally invisible on my blond spruce top, and provides very good protection. I also bought one for a black enamel spruce top, on which the guard is more visible, but only because I have not yet taken the time to push out the air bubbles I caught underneath it as I installed it.Also, I think it interferes less with the projection of sound than a thicker plastic pick guard would. It would be nice to see Taylor test that theory empirically. They might sell more of them.
