I have been uses the Task Quick Support Rods for many years in the slightly smaller version and it is amazing how often they come in handy. We had about 4 inches of snow in Savannah GA and that just does not happen. It caved in an aluminum roof that has been connected to my house for at least 25 years and insurance does not cover that in the South (and other places). I am using these adjustable rods to bring it back up again and its working but I need even more of them . This company Heathshire sent them quick and very well packed and sure hope the send the next 4 of them just as fast as the first 2. I can't recommend this tool enough . I have used them for drywall and paneling many times and these make the job easy. These screw to lift and so they can handle a good amount of weight . They are a very well made tool and Task makes the best ones there are.

These are super easy to use and built really strong. Now they do not come with any instructions but if one is a bit confused there is a good video on YouTube put out by the Company on how to use them step by step.Just extend the shaft and once it is snug to the ceiling or what ever it is, then turn the handle anti clockwise and it will ratchet into position with all the force one ever needs. I highly recommend these.

I do a lot of building and renovation, and - historically - I've found myself cutting pieces of lumber to a rough height to help hold things at height before fastening them in place.Once finding this tool, I've bought a second one because of its versatility! The pole's height range is generally perfect for what I need (though other height options are available). The pads on either end are tough and grip very well on any surface I've used them on, and also include predrilled holes to attach support pieces to help distribute the load above or lock the location of either end in place. The adjustable increments get the rod to a close height within ~1/2", and fine-tuning the ultimate height is a breeze by simply twisting the pole with one hand while keeping your eye on the mark.I've never maxed out the capacity, but 100+ pounds seems more than adequate for what I use it for. The fiberglass rod is sturdy and thick, and the steel hardware at either end is substantial. I've never felt that the rod's strength was in question.I've used these rods for cabinets, joists, sheathing placement, and ceiling panels, among other things, and they've been an amazing investment. As a bonus, you can set them sideways and push things into alignment as well!I'm looking forward to figuring out other ways to use these, as they're now integral to my set of building supplies.

The exact measurements of the Task T74500 are as follows..62.5 inches totally collapsed. So that's with the feet screwed all the way in, the feet flat. You cannot make it shorted than that, unless you unscrew and remove the feet.122 inches totally extended, and with the feet unscrewed all the way except for the last few threads, feet flat.So yes, you can use it on 10 foot ceilings to erect temporary dust walls using light poly. They would be great for pop up artists/musicians that want to erect a backdrop instantly, as long as you have a roof or some kind of awning or even some strong tree branches above you as these don't free stand, they brace between the ground and whatever is above you.Get them close to how tall you want them, and then you rotate the whole pole, while the feet stay still and it takes up the last few centimeters and braces into place, it's a brilliant design, until you try it it's hard to explain, but really easy to do.Great product, million uses.

We're about to change an existing room opening to a wall and door and wanted to put up some plastic to get a feel for the new wall. I've occasionally had a need for supports like this one, so we ordered a pair. They're quite heavy-duty and have a decent locking/release mechanism to adjust to the approximate height and then the entire shaft of the support turns one way to tighten (and the other way to loosen). The "feet" stay in place which makes getting things lined up (e.g., for our application, we had to drape plastic sheeting over the top "foot" on each side of the current opening) a lot easier. Only problem is that, of the two supports we bought, one support's feet is rather "floppy" and doesn't stay at the angle it's put into, making it hard to drape something over the top or, I imagine, to do anything. I assume that a few drops of glue might make the foot less floppy, but it seems like all of the feet -- top and bottom and across different supports -- should have the same degree of non-floppiness. I'm knocking half a star off for that.I'm also knocking half a star off because the included booklet advertises all of the accessories (some of which seem like they could be useful), but doesn't explain how to use the actual support itself. There are instructions on a label on the support itself, but it also doesn't explain how to use it, except in the most general terms. For instance, I just noticed that I can push the big round pin one way to lock it in place and the other way to unlock it, but nowhere was that mentioned in the general instructions on the label. Maybe I missed a clear outline of the steps for using it, but I don't think so.Maybe something like:1) ensure pin is unlocked by pressing (from left to right? right to left?)2) press lever and, while depressing lever, manually pull inner, silver half of support out until the entire support has reached the desired length3) release lever4) turn entire pole (counterclockwise? clockwise?) to increase length and tighten the fit5) press pin (from right to left? from left to right?) to lockI'm just guessing that those are the actual steps; I think that the real steps should be on a label on the device itself.A little on the expensive side, but they do seem like they'll last a while.
