Product Description

Tanita's BD-815U technology provides incredible sensitivity for the smallest of patients. It was specifically designed to weigh premature infants and babies that are having difficulty gaining weight, featuring a measurement accuracy of 0.1oz/2g up to 12lbs/6kg, and 0.2oz/4g up to 33lbs/15kg. The BD-815U provides a convenient memory with weight gain calculation for pre and post feeding. New moms and lactation consultants find this to be extremely beneficial in determining milk intake.

The BD-815U has a large 1.3" blue backlight display making the weight very easy to read. Other features include a removable basket for easy cleaning, memory, recall, tare, and weight gain. The BD-815U can operate on the induced 4 AA batteries or by using the included AC adapter, and it has an RS-232 output so data can be captured electronically. A sensitive infant scale is a necessity as a lactation consultant. This scale is great for doing pre/post feed weighs and is lightweight enough to carry along for home visits. The seller is also very responsive and was able to quickly get me a replacement when I needed it. Highly recommend the scale and Competitive Edge.

My scale stopped locking in and no buttons helped. I could not switch from grams to pounds and ounces. I called customer support numerous times with no return of my messages. I finally talked with someone and they were no help. Total waste of money.

I really like this scale compared to the Medela baby weigh scale. I used it for my home visits with my clients. The only thing I wish it would toggle between grams /lbs oz like the Medela scale does

I want to start off by saying that obviously this is a huge purpose so I have huge expectations. The accuracy of this scale is amazing. You can’t beat measuring down the the gram.It travels okay, I just a hard suitcase with a pillow as cushion for home visits. My biggest complaint is that sometimes it doesn’t beep? But it shows stabilized in the screen. And also, in order to go from grams to lbs you have to take the baby off, switch the unit of measurement and put the baby back on. It’s pretty inconvenient.Other then that, I’m completely happy with it. I did register the product through the manufacturer, without a response. So I will check up on that.

As a lactation professional I need something that is accurate enough for pre and post feed weights, but also easy enough to travel with.

I like this baby scale for many reasons including its accuracy and its ability to be easily transportable in the carrying case (purchased separately). The price is fair for the quality of the scale. The one feature I wish it had is the ability to toggle between pounds and grams during a weighing. Currently it only allows for one or the other. Medical professionals chart in grams but parents want to know the weight in pounds/ounces.

I just love this scale. It's super easy to use. The user manual is easy to read and understand. It's great for my at home lactation visits. I love that it remembers and initial weight and does the math for me. I highly recommend this scale.

My wife and I are very particular and most people would probably think were insane for our monitoring of our son's intake and growth. With that said, the scale is super-super accurate. Our son is now 16 months and I still record his growth bi-weekly. Until 1 year old on a daily basis, and during the first few weeks we weighed him pre and post feedings. It is also great for precisely measuring pumped milk. The scale is consistently accurate. We purchased a calibration weight set and the scale has been exact every single time. There is a soft snug fitting pad sold as an accessory. We were able to get ours for free from Tanita because of their advertising error. I don't know what it cost but I would highly recommend it. The standard cradle is a cold hard plastic. You can add a soft blanket over the cradle if you wish and then zero balance the scale so that you don't need to do any extra math. We use the pad and a blanket. I would recommend this scale to anyone. You can download the user manual from [...]
