Rewired a Hampton Bay floor air circulator. I chose to solder right to the tabs using a heat sink to protect the innards. Take a picture or leave enough of the wires when you cut the old switch out to identify what color goes to what. There is nothing common or universal to that. The switch was too big to fit in the OEM switch housing but wrapping it with tape and zip tying it to the chrome wire frame worked out.

This 4 position, 3 ON switch was utilized in the effort to retain all 3 fan speeds after the electronic control board began failing on our 10 year old cooler. Description for product is good. Quality of switch is good and appropriate for this price point. The control knob is sturdy and connections solid. The included female spade connectors are basic quality, but not trash, and were used in my efforts. There is a 5th terminal that passes power in all 3 ON positions. One could possibly use this terminal as power ON to the cooler pump when the fan is operating and have a one and done solution to get their cooler up and running. The toughest part of the installation was drilling and filing the mounting hole to final size to fit the switch correctly. (Picture note: The red switch operates the cool pump and the white switch is a push and hold ON switch from a clothes dryer door for the purge/drain pump.)

I had a vintage hassock fan that needed a new switch and electric cord. I bought this switch, it has 5 terminals: H M L B C. The fan motor had 4 wires Black, Blue, Red, Yellow. I didn’t have much to go on, as the old switch was pretty trashed out. Black fan wire was put on L, Blue fan wire on M, and Red fan wire on H. The electric cord was a two pronged extension cord which I cut the outlet end off. The cord has a black (hot) wire and a white (neutral) wire. Attach the hot wire to B terminal and connect the white neutral wire to the remaining yellow wire of the fan. Do not connect them to C. I made the mistake of attaching the white and yellow to C and I had to replace the wall outlet! It took less than a fraction of a second to get really hot and blow. Luckily, no damage was done to the switch or fan and the outlet was replaced! I’m happy to report that somebody on Amazon who also had left a review for this switch said C terminal wasn’t used in this case. Also happy that all is working good on this old fan. First click is High speed, second click is Medium speed, then the third click is Low speed. Then when you turn the switch counterclockwise, it goes to M then H then off.

The only complaint is the power wiring diagram that come with it. about 30 seconds with a meter and a guy can figure it out though. Basically the one extra terminal is switched to incoming power when the switch is in any of the 3 positions except off. When off this terminal is isolated. This could be used to power an indicator that the switch is no longer in the off position.Would buy again, great quality.
