..That the pins on these are very thin and delicate and NOT meant to be pushed into a breadboard! These are missing the circuit board and pins, they are the RAW component. Look a bit more at these and compare the others with the 5 pins on the circuit board. In my case I snipped the paper-thin tabs off and soldered thick wire that will work with a breadboard, etc.Good luck.

This is a very high-quality encoder. Whereas other encoders like this have the rotary-encoder action only, this one features the push-button alternate-action so you can enable/disable the encoder action.

Used as a replacement part for a cheap Chinese DDS frequency generator. Cheap fix and now I have four more for other repairs. Recommended.

While the final installation will be panel mounted with soldered connections, prototyping with these was a bit annoying as the pins seem very thin and they don't work well with jumper wires that I was using. Also, didn't work with a breadboard. Quick bit of solder and some wires and issue was fixed, but keep that in mind if you're prototyping in that fashion. Also, because of the metal used for the pins, I wouldn't bend them or move them around too much as I felt like they'd break off pretty easily. These worked for my purposes.

Do not work. Looks like internal contacts are misaligned. A bit better when rotating in one direction, and absolutely inconsistent in opposite derection. Tried 3 of 5 - same result. And yes, my project works just fine with other encoders (with shorter shafts), but I need long shafts for my front panel.
