Had to add teflon tape on tightening nut threads and pipe doped the teflon washer to get it to stop leaking. Pipe threads are NPT and had no problems with them sealing.

The casting and machining appear to be of high quality. My male NPT fittings worked perfectly with it. Unlike some reviewers, I had no problem opening the strainer part. With three wraps of teflon tape on the male fittings, I have no leaks. Our home is on a well. We get frequent power outages, especially during the summer because our power company is afraid of being blamed for starting fires. Once our power is restored we typically have a small amount air in our plumbing. This stirs up any sediment in out pressure tank and water heater. This filter is a cheap, easy way to filter out that grit with virtually no pressure loss. It saves our faucets, hose bibs, and sprinklers. I wish I'd added it decades ago.I deducted one star only because the seller has an innacurate description and hasn't changed it. There is no check valve feature included. I'm familliar with these filters so I didn't expect it, but if you want or expect a check valve, you will be disappointed. Make sure it is installed in the correct direction.

I like the manufactured quality of this specific-use 304SS fitting. The fitting is designed to filter upstream solid matter from downstream liquid flow through 1/2" pipe. I don't know the filter material nor straining hole diameter from the product description, but thankfully the filter is metallic and appears to be stainless steel material.

Inline filter for 3/4 pipe connections. It has arrows showing the water flows in the port that is 135 degrees from the filter and out the other port (that's 45 degrees off). The mesh is quite fine, so hope it doesn't fill too quickly with crud (if you are thinking your water needs additional filtering). With it plumbed the suggested way, you should be able to flush it out (when needed) by turning off the water, remove the filter cap, briefly turn on the water supply to flush it out, then turn off water and replace cap. By not removing the screen nothing should get past it during that process (to keep things clean in the clean area). So should work well for a long time.
