I was quite impressed with this item for the price - there are a number of sellers with this exact item, up to nearly $50. The steel used is about eighth inch, more than beefy enough for this application. The wooden parts appear to be finger jointed from real wood, not particle board w/wrap. The hardware is nice, and they even provide two allen keys.I did discard the screws and drywall anchors that came in the kit and use three-inch screws into a stud, because I have an armored jacket, two pairs of pants, helmet and a full suit plus all my accessories on the one stand.

This product - at least two of them, I’ve returned this one and tried again - does not come with the piece of wood - SHOWN IN PHOTOS, and with hardware provided for it - that mounts the unit to the wall. This is unfortunate because for the price it isn’t worth wasting time to make that. note that without it, the unit will be near impossible to mount to the wall. If you make it on your own make sure it is made well or it’ll take away from the aesthetic.

Love the idea, maybe I can make it work if I re-make the hanger, but the hanger is so small my gear just slides off, I was going to get one for my son to hang his goalie pads on but even those won't stay on with the hanger being too small. If the hanger was standard size it would work really well though. Might still hang it and use the hook and a hanger to hang my jacket on until I can make a larger hanger to bolt on the end.

My son is a war history buff and his grandpa has given him a lot of gear from when he was in Vietnam. So much, in fact, that my son has run out of shelf and closet space in his bedroom, and it's started to accumulate on his floor. I was very excited to run across this wall mount. It's the perfect solution to display his memorabilia and tidy up the space.I think is an excellent value for the money. No way you could build something out of all wood for this price. The metal is extremely heavy. I cannot comment on the mounting anchors since, based off bad past experiences with unrelated items, I always elect to use my own. The metal frame is solid and quite heavy. The wood has a very smooth finish. My only compliant is that it doesn't come with any instructions on how to assemble or mount it. They do have pics with the listing, but I found it annoying to have to get out my laptop and keep it from going to sleep while I tried to simultaneously assemble and mount this. Great item, but printed instructions would have been very much appreciated.

Would rate it higher. Seems we'll built but not all of the pieces are in the package.

The metal frame is heavy duty, but does have a space where it's not welded together but is covered by the wood for helmets. The hanger is a little small but functional. The screws included are a pain in rear because the included tools a little small. Defects aside, for the price I like it and will order another.

This hanger is great. Holds everything you need securely. Installation was simple with all the provided hardware.
