Bought one of these via Amazon in 2017. Had it for 6 weeks before I got around to using it. The heating element burnt out after one hour of use. Too late to return it, totally useless! I am $500 out of pocket. If I could give minus stars I would.

I had high hopes for this unit but its just ok. It takes 30 plus minutes to get to 2200f which for a crucible that small and a price that high is too long. The crucibles last only 5 heat cycles and cost a fortune. Get one of the $200 machines available you will be happier.

I really like the kiln but the first time I used it I got electrocuted. I think it's because I pulled the crucible out at an angle and it brushed against the heating filament and since the tongs and crucible are very conductive it electrocuted me. To be fair there's a warning about this, I somehow missed it. Just be sure not to tilt the crucible while taking it out, if you get electrocuted and your hand seizes up you might spill the metal.I really like the precise temperature control and fast heating times though, it's much simpler and compact then a gas furnace, very good overall.
