This is an OK tool if you need to replace a leaky valve core, but I would not use it if you need to pull a deep vacuum as it will not hold it for long. This is not as expensive as an appion designed to hold 20 microns of vacuum, but it's nowhere near as expensive either. Not sure how you'd use it on a mini-split I don't think the removal tool will reach the core with the adapter installed - ok for standard AC.

I just started taking a class in HVAC. The instructor was talking about what a time saver these core removers are. I decided to get one to try it out. The kid itself comes with a core removing tool pork cover and several cores. It seems work pretty good. You screw it on to the valve port and you open the valve on the tool. This allows you to push the plunger down and unscrew the valve core pulling it back and then you can close the tools shut off. By taking the core out it allows you to evacuate the system much quicker. This is a handy-dandy tool if you plan to do much HVAC work.

Though the packaging for this item is not flashy, the feel of it in your hands is surprisingly good.I purchased this tool without adequately reading the description so I was unable to use it as needed. My brain read R134 when R134 is not one of its compatibilities. Oh well, my fault.Having said that, I did play around with it. For one, the brass construction inspires confidence. You can attach the tool to different sizes of fitting. I believe the tool allows for you to charge or evactuate the system while attached. You can do this while having the valve core removed. The purpose for my intrest in the tool was removing the valve core without evacuating the refidgerent. By threading the tool on to your system, you may unscrewed the valve core, back it up out of the line, close an integrated ball valve, and then remove the core and all of this without loosing much pressure. You can then insert a replacement valve core and install it by reversing the prior steps. Pretty slick if you ask me.Were I working with the appropriate refridgeration system, I expect I'd come to depend on this tool.

I used this to install a mini split system and to verify and test the seal of the lines, it worked perfectly! There were no leaks, and all the threads were smooth and easy to work with. Definitely a must-have for any HVAC technician or DIYer. Highly recommended!

Not as high quality as I would like but it works well. The shaft flexes a bit but it pulls the core straight out. The adaptor came in handy for the 134a jugs and was a nice touch.

Purchased along side an adapter kit for everything I need to service my minisplit and standard HVAC unit. Or so I thought. The unit seems well built, I pressurized it and it did not leak for the most part. The seal around the core remover shaft made a pfft or two when manipulating, but sealed otherwise. Valve sealed off the gas as expected. The only issue seems to be that the package only came with the 1/4" core remover. The 5/16" tool was missing.
