About this item

  • System Sensor 5601P

Multiple configurations. The 5600 series offers a full-line of configurations to accommodate a broad range of applications. Both single- and dual-circuit models are available for low- and hightemperature ratings with either fixed temperature or combination fixed temperature/rate-of-rise (ROR) activation. The ROR element of the fixed/ROR models is restorable to accommodate field-testing. Installation flexibility. To satisfy a variety of installation needs, the 5600 series easily mounts to single-gang and octagonal back boxes. And these models accommodate four-square back boxes, when used with a square to round plaster ring. The reversible mounting bracket permits both flush- and surface-mount back box installations. Visual identification. The 5600 series provides clear markings on the exterior of the unit to ensure that the proper detector is being used. Alphanumeric characters identify the activation method, as well as the temperature rating, in Fahrenheit and Celsius degrees. Fixed temperature models are identified FX, while combination fixed/rate-of-rise units are marked FX/ROR. The 5600 series also provides a post-activation indicator in the form of a collector. When the detector is activated, the collector drops from the unit, making it easy to identify the unit in alarm.

Great sensors. Replaced 20+ year existing ones.Very solid mount - no chance of falling or getting lose by itself.Tested Rate of Rise with Hairdryer Method - working fine.

This detector is made to work connected to an alarm system,it does not have its own alarm. It is totally mechanical, it means that it has no electronics inside, therefore it does not require power. It only has a normal open contact with two terminals that are in the sensor, not in the base. Although it only has two terminals, it can be connected together with four-wire sensors in the same alarm zone.It is activated by a sudden increase in temperature (ROR) or when the temperature exceeds 135 ° F. When activated by ROR, it reset automatically but when activated by temperature the disc is dropped and can not be reset. you have to replace the detector.

I just got one for the new house. Have been using these in my old place for 5 years with no false alarms. Good piece of mind in the garage over the cars and in the attic when monitored 24/7 by a good alarm system. Attic fires can get you killed because living space smoke detectors may not be triggered by fires in you attic or garage before it's too late to bail out.

Fairly easy to install for medium level DIY. Make sure this is compatible with your alarm system resistor arrangement.

Exactly what I needed. New house did not have garage/utility room covered for fire. These areas tend to be drafty so a smoke detector is not appropriate, but a 135F with rate of rise is. Tested the ROR with a hair dryer, works perfectly.

Using this in may garage. I work in my garage a lot. I cant use a smoke detectors because cutting and welding will set them off. These should be required in everyone's attached garages. If your car catches fire at night while you are sleeping, how long until you find out?

INSTALLED THIS DETECTOR ON A LOW CEILING TOO CLOSE TO A STOVE AND WHILE THE EXHAUST FAN WAS OFF THE RATE OF RISE DETECTOR SENSED THE TEMPERATURE RISING QUICKLY : (FOUR BURNERS GOING IN STOVE) AND SET OFF MY ALARM. THE UNIT RESET AFTER THE TEMP WAS NORMAL AGAIN AND THE FIXED 135 SENSOR WAS NOT DAMAGED....GOOD HEAT DETECTOR THAT MUST BE INSTALLED CORRECTLY..THAT IS THIS DETECTOR SHOULD NOT BE UNSTALLED IN AREAS WHERE TEMP RISES QUICKLY....FOR SUCH AN INSTALL A FIXED ONLY DETECTOR MAY BE BETTER SUITED. RECEIVED IN GOOD CONDITION/ PACKAGING IN A TIMELY MANNER. OVERALL GOOD EXPERIENCE
