These barrel jacks are the worst, but I have a bass guitar that requires it. This type of jack tends to break if it’s bumped or if you forget a cable is sticking out and you sit down with it and put some pressure on it.Another thing to know, is there is actually an expensive tool that you may need to tighten this jack properly. I had to buy this tool a while back because I wanted to repair a PRS guitar that came out of the factory with bad wiring. It’s available from Stew Mac on amazon, but it is around $60 for the tool that allows you to clamp down properly on these round ridged connectors. So you may want to get a jack that has a regular nut instead if you don’t have the tool. The design is kind of antiquated I suppose. I don’t really think a clamp on the ground wire is necessary in the inside of most guitars. I clipped this part off on my build because I didn’t have room for it in my bass. No problem there, but then you are then left with a sharp edge that could potentially cut your wiring. I resolved this issue by tinning that area.Everything else about the jack is fine, but I don’t know that it is any better than any other barrel jack in reality. It will still break under the right conditions.

My vintage peavey T60 needed a cord female plug and this one looks the original. Works. I'm happy.

Barrel jacks suck, but Switchcraft is the best of this design. If Switchcraft doesn't offer it, Neutrik typically does. If it's not one of those, keep shopping.

Switchcraft solid, well made, great jack. Plating was crisp, no burrs. Excellent product.Note: This is not as frequently used in guitars which often use stereo jacks.

Good stuff, just be sure of the dimensions in your guitar cavity, on japan ibanez you have to cut a piece.

I personally do not like these types of jacks because they are cheap and they wear out after a year of using. I replaced a guitar that came stock with a MIJ type with a switchcraft and it failed me at a gig and I had to use a back up. I did just buy another for it a few days ago because I have no choice but to use this type without modifying my guitar. I play professionally and use it as my main guitar so it needed to be done.
